Air Fryer Potato Wedges
Potato Wedges made in the Air Fryer are crispy on the outside and tender and soft on the inside just like your favorite fried wedges. Making wedges in the Air Fryer saves you calories compared to traditional deep frying but also makes them a lot crispier than baking in the oven.
These wedges are perfectly seasoned with garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper and some olive oil which makes them super flavorful. We also love to toss the Wedges with some grated Parmesan cheese and parsley after air frying them for some extra deliciousness!
Do Air Fryers Make Food Crispy
Yes, the air fryer does make food nice and crispy. I would say its the number #1 reason why most people buy an air fryer. I know its the reason why I did.
Back in 2011 I bought an air fryer because I wanted chips but without the deep fat fryer calories. Our air fryer chips soon became our thing and they were so crispy and yummy.

What Is The Best Potato To Use For Wedges
The best potatoes for wedges are Russets.
Russets cook faster and crisp up better than other potatoes. As stated earlier, potatoes are on the dirty dozen list of produce with the most pesticide residue, so organic is the best option.
Other potatoes such as Yukon Gold, Yellow, White, and Red will work too, however, Russet potatoes tend to give a crispier end result while maintaining a waxy interior.
If you opt to use another type of potato the cooking time to get them crispy may be longer, but they should still be tasty.
Can I Make This Recipe In A Regular Oven
Sure, you can use the same recipe and bake the wedges on a sheet pan covered with parchment paper.
Lay the wedges on the pan, leaving some space between each dont overlap or stick them together.
Bake in a convection oven at 350°F or in a regular oven at 430°F for 45 to 50 minutes, flipping each wedge halfway.

Time And Temperature Tips
The air frying time depends on the thickness of your wedges and how much you added to your basket.
But, as a general rule, you need to air fry this recipe at 400°F for 30 to 40 minutes. Always shake the basket every 8 to 10 minutes to make sure the wedges roast evenly.
Wait for 2 to 3 minutes before serving as the wedges are burning hot.
Serve hot with extra salt and your dips of choice like my cucumber dip recipe or marinara sauce.

Prep Potatoes: Scrub and rinse potatoes, then thoroughly pat dry. Cut each potato in half then cut each half into 4-6 wedges, evenly sized.

Air Fry: Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray and add enough potatoes that you can spread them apart without touching . Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Cook for 10-15 minutes, opening the basket every 5 minutes to give them a shake/toss, until tender and crispy.
Store leftover wedges in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in the air fryer at 400 degrees, until hot and crispy.

Yes, they are. Whilst we often think of potato wedges as being the unhealthy potato side dish we buy from KFC or Pizza Hut, cooked in the air fryer they are much healthier.
That is because fresh potato wedges in the air fryer are just using white potatoes, a tiny quantity of extra virgin olive oil and seasoning. There is no deep fat fryers involved or processed ingredients.

Russet potatoes or Idaho will be best for making wedges as they produce a fluffy texture while giving those crispy edges because of their higher starch content and thick skin.

How To Store Cooked Potato Wedges
These potato wedges air fryer cooked are best enjoyed right after they’re cooked, but if you don’t finish all of them off, they’re pretty darn good leftover.
If you have any leftovers, just put them in an airtight container, and they’ll last in the fridge for 3 days.
And to keep them for longer, you can freeze the potatoes for up to 3 months.
Reheating Potato Wedges
Having some leftovers to heat up is super convenient when you’re short on time.
To reheat the refrigerated or frozen potato wedges, I think the best way to bring back the crispiness is by tossing them back in the air fryer.
So, heat the air fryer to 350°F and put the potatoes in for a couple of minutes or until they reach your desired temperature. And you’ll want to add some more time for the frozen potatoes.
Does An Air Fryer Make Things Crispy

Seasoning For Potato Wedges
The potato wedges are seasoned with a combination of herbs and spices that gives them an amazing flavor. They taste absolutely delicious! The spices and herbs I used in this potato wedges seasoning are paprika, parsley, dried thyme, garlic powder, onion granules, black pepper, and salt.
Seasoning potato wedges before air frying them is easy and quick. After cutting the potatoes into wedges and soaking them, pat them dry with paper towels, add the potatoes, seasoning, and oil into a bowl and mix till well combined and the potatoes are evenly coated in the seasoning.
Do You Need To Soak Potatoes Before Making Wedges
Some recipes advise soaking the potato wedges before air frying them personally, I dont do this step but I do like to give them a good rinse in cold water to wash away some of the starch. This helps the wedges to crisp up a little bit more, but its not essential.
If you do choose to soak them, leave them in water for about 30 minutes before draining and patting them dry with some kitchen roll.

How To Make These Breaded Air Fryer Potato Wedges
First, grab two equally sized Russet potatoes. Then, youll cut them into equal sized wedges. Heres a good graph on how to cut potato wedges. Make sure the wedges are of similar size so they cook evenly.
Then whisk your egg and milk in a medium sized bowl. Place your potato wedges in the bowl and coat them with the mixture. Set aside.
Next, in another medium bowl, combine your flour, seasoning salt, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper in a bowl and stir until combined.
Next, take your potato wedges and coat them in the flour mixture, making sure all sides are covered. Shake off any excess flour.
Once your wedges are coated, its time to place them in the Air Fryer basket. Spray the bottom of the Air Fryer basket with oil so your wedges wont stick. Then lay them in a single layer on the air fryer basket.
Then spray your air fryer wedges to cover any flour spots.
Close the air Fryer and set the temperature to 360 degrees Fahrenheit for 22 minutes. After 11 minutes, open your Air Fryer. If you see any spots of flour on these side of the wedges, spray them with oil. Then, flip your wedges and spray this side with oil. Close the air fryer and cook for the remaining 11 minutes.
And done Once this batch of wedges is done, repeat until all your potato wedges are cooked.

Is Our Garlic Mayo Sauce An Aoli
A classic Aioli is typically made up of an emulsion of egg yolk, oil, lemon juice, and your preferred flavoring agent. All three of which happen to be found in your average mayonnaise.
The only differences being the ratio of ingredients used, and that mayonnaise would have more subtle flavoring agents such as Dijon Mustard. Following this definition, our Garlic Mayo Sauce would indeed qualify as an Aioli.
Having a green taste of mashed garlic and virgin olive oil, Aioli is a much older condiment than mayonnaise and a unique condiment in its own right.
You can use it as a sauce , a dip, or garnish for a variety of foods, and it is not heated or cooked.
How To Make Potato Wedges In Air Fryer
Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to cut a potato into wedges. Be sure all of your wedges are relatively similar in size so they cook evenly and fully.
- Slice the potato in half lengthwise.
- Take each potato half, cut side down, and slice in half again.
- Now cut each potato quarter in half at a 45 degree angle such that each wedge is about ½-inch thick. If your potato is bigger, cut each quarter into thirds.
Prep potatoes: Soak the potatoes wedges in ice-cold water for 20-30 minutes, then drain and wipe-dry the wedges.
Add the seasonings: In a large mixing bowl, toss the potato wedges with 1 tablespoon of oil and the spices until well coated.
Air fry: Preheat your air fryer to 380ºF for 2 minutes. Place the wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket, then cook for 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
Add cheese: Remove the basket and transfer the wedges to the same mixing bowl and toss with an additional tablespoon of oil and parmesan cheese .
Air fry again. Spread the wedges in a single layer back in the air fryer basket and cook for another 8-10 minutes.

Can You Make Them Ahead And Reheat Them
These seasoned potato wedges are great right out of the air fryer, but if you have leftovers dont throw them out! One of the reasons I love the air fryer so much is because it reheats so well!
Cooked wedges can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat them, preheat the air fryer to 380F and cook them for 3 to 5 minutes, shaking halfway through. Theyll come out perfectly crispy and taste as theyve just been cooked!
Best Potatoes For Wedges
Have you tried russets baked potatoes? If you have, you get why my personal first choice for baked potatoes are usually Russets. They always come out well baked with crispy edges and fluffy soft insides.
They also cook faster than waxy potatoes like red potatoes and yellow potatoes which I have also used to make air fryer potatoes. Other alternatives Ive used besides the red potatoes and yellow potatoes are Yukon gold potatoes. If you want really crispy potatoes Id suggest either Russets or Yukon gold.

Air Fryer Potato Wedges Fork Test
When making potato wedges in an air fryer, I recommend what I call the fork test. The fork test is a great way to check if your potato wedges are cooked or not. Because some air fryers work differently to others, I recommend this as a general guide for getting the cook time right.
Then if you do the fork test and they are not fork tender then you can add a couple of extra minutes before increasing the temperature to make your potato wedges crispy.
