What Is That White Stuff That Comes Out Of Salmon

The white stuff coming out of your salmon fillet is albumin. But dont panic! Salmon goop doesnt actually exist, so youre safe to enjoy cooking and eating this healthy protein source without the risk of getting poisoned by it anytime soon. Albumin is naturally found in fish that are high on omega-3s like salmon because they need a lot less energy than other animals to do to form their tissues from these proteins which help keep them hydrated for oxygen transportation through the bodys circulatory system including its brain cells .

Tips For Making Cod In The Air Fryer

    Air Fryer Fish Recipe
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. The fish strips shouldnt be touching, so cook them in two batches if needed.
  • Remove as much moisture from the fish before breading it. Dab the fish with absorbent kitchen towel to get rid of any excess moisture. If the fish is too wet, it can steam, meaning that your breadcrumb coating could end up soggy rather than crispy.
  • Pre heat your air fryer. This means that the temperature and air flows will be at the right level when you cook the fish. If you dont pre heat it can cook your food unevenly.
  • Make sure that the cod is cooked through. Depending on the thickness of your fillets, they may take slighter longer, or quicker, to cook through. Use a fork to test the thickest piece, the flesh should easily flake.

Are You Supposed To Wash Salmon Before Cooking

You dont have to wash the salmon before cooking especially if youre in a hurry to cook the meal. However, if you plan on doing so to get rid of any slimy liquid from the packet, just be careful that water isnt splashing around everywhere. Otherwise, it can cause cross contamination if it gets on other surfaces .

To avoid this, the USDA recommends thoroughly sanitizing your sink, counter, knives, and cutting boards right after theyve come in contact with meat or fish. We shouldnt forget to wash our hands with soapy warm water afterwards as well. This way, youll eliminate any risk of getting food-borne illnesses and tummy troubles.

Season each fillet with garlic, paprika, salt and pepper and drizzle a little olive oil on top. The paprika really gives the salmon a beautiful browned color when cooked, so I love adding it to salmon. Make sure to rub the spices in for best flavor, and then place the salmon in the air fryer.

Salmon filets are ideal for the air fryer. With just 5 ingredients and 10 minutes on the air fry setting, we get perfectly cooked salmon that is tender, flaky, and with a nice caramelization on top. For this recipe we like to place aluminum foil down in the basket or on the tray of the air fryer. Then give it a little spray with some non-stick cooking spray. Salmon skin really likes to stick, so the foil will really make clean up no muss, no fuss. No worries, it wont affect the outcome of the recipe. After youve brushed the top of the salmon filets with butter and added the seasonings, in it goes at 390° for 10 minutes for 6 ounce filets. If your filets are bigger, you can adjust the time accordingly and add a minute or two. When the time is up, the salmon filets will have a beautiful caramelization on top and will easily flake apart with a fork.

When it comes to salmon, fork tender really is a thing.

This recipe was made in a Cosori Air Fryer with a Basket. The recipe should work in other air fryers.

Keep in mind that each air fryer runs differently, it is important to check your food often.

How To Make Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

Making hard boiled eggs in the air fryer couldnt be easier!

Preheat the air fryer to 250°F. But you can also skip this step and just tack on an extra couple minutes of cooking time. I always like to start by preheating though. Set the timer between 13 and 17 minutes, depending on your desired doneness and thats it!

The outer shell of the egg may have raised spots on them after theyre cooked. But thats just from the hot air circulating rapidly and creating pressure on the egg shells. Its completely normal if that happens, and the peeled eggs arent affected.

As soon as theyre cooked, place the hard boiled eggs in an ice water bath, made with cold water and ice cubes. This helps to immediately stop the cooking and makes it easy to peel the eggs. You can alternatively just run them under cold running water for a minute.

Then, just peel normally and enjoy. I found that the air fryer hard boiled eggs peel super easily and quickly every time!

    Tips For Air Frying Salmon

Its super easy and will be even better when you follow these tips.

    • Choosing your Salmon: Both fresh and frozen salmon works for this recipe. Thaw the frozen salmon before cooking. Salmon should be clean brightly colored and free from soft spots or discolorations.
    • Dry: To help the seasonings stick to the salmon pat it dry with paper towels. Also press the seasonings into the salmon so it stays on the salmon.
    • Done: Check the salmon early to make sure you dont over cook it. You do not want to over cook salmon. Using a meat thermometer check the thickest part of the salmon. The internal temp should be 145 degrees F. Remove from the air fryer immediately, it will continue to cook if left in the basket.
    • No thermometer: If you dont have a meat thermometer you can tell when Salmon is done by the color. When salmon is cooked it turns from a translucent reddish to an opaque pink. Raw salmon is translucent and reddish. When its cooked, it turns opaque pink.
