Air Fryer Baked Potatoes | Crispy & Fluffy!
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400° F so it’s ready to start cooking right away.
  • Prep the potatoes by giving them a quick scrub or using a damp kitchen towel. Poke a few holes to allow for steam to escape, drizzle on a little olive oil and sprinkle on some salt.
  • Air fry the potatoes for about 30 to 40 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the potatoes reaches 205° F.
  • Do I Need To Remove The Potato Skin

Whether you are making baked potatoes for lunch or as a side to a juicy steak dinner, the most important question to ask yourself is, are you going to eat the potato skin? Or leave it? I am pro eating that delicious crispy and salty potato skin! I recommend leaving it on and devouring it along with the rest of your potato.

Plus, its easier to cook your potatoes with the skin on. No fuss is what Im all about.

Should I Wrap My Potato In Foil Before Air Frying

You can skip this step for your baked potato in the air fryer. We are aiming for a potato that is fluffy and light on the inside with crispy skin on the outside.

Wrapping your air fryer baked potato in foil will result in soggy skin and sad potatoes. Do yourself a favor skip this step and save your foil. Your potatoes and family will thank you.

Do You Have To Poke Holes In A Potato Before Air Frying

To pierce or not to pierce the potato? It seems this is a debate almost as old as potatoes themselves!

The point of poking holes in potatoes before baking is to make it possible for steam to escape from the skin during the cooking process.

Otherwise, too much pressure may build up and your potato might burst open.

Contrary to rumor, poking holes does not make your air fryer baked potato cook any faster. The holes simply act as a pressure valve.

It is not absolutely necessary to include this step, but I recommend it.

Taking a few seconds to poke a few holes will give you the best chance at perfectly crispy and fully intact skin on all your potatoes.

How To Make AMAZING Air Fryer BAKED POTATOES With CRISPY SKINS!

Chicken thighs are many peoples favorite part of the bird and for a very good reason. Chicken thighs are rich in flavor as well as being the juiciest in terms of texture.

Unfortunately, this does come at a price, as chicken thighs are also the fattiest cut of the chicken and the most calorific.

One way to reduce the calories is to remove the skin. A lot of fat and extra calories are found within, so removing it makes sense when trying to make a slightly healthier meal.

The problem is that the skin is also where a lot of the flavor is, so removing it will obviously negatively impact the dishs overall taste. You will also lose the crispy skin that is a big part of the dishs texture, so its up to you what you should do.

    • Step 1: Thoroughly rinse a couple of good sized russet potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. Pierce the potatoes all over with a fork to allow air to escape while cooking. This is an important step whenever you cook potatoes. Nobody wants a potato explosion on their hands!
    • Step 2: Pour a bit of olive oil over your potatoes. Remember that air fryers only need a small amount of oil for cooking. Coating your potatoes in oil will allow them to crisp up on the outsides while letting the insides cook to a perfectly fluffy finish.
    • Step 3: Season the potatoes with salt and pepper. A little bit of seasoning goes a long way, so between a couple of potatoes you should only need a teaspoon of each.
    • Step 4: Rub the oil and seasonings all over the outsides of the potatoes to coat them well, then place them in the basket of your air fryer. Cook at 390 degrees F for 35-40 minutes. Then remove, serve with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Do You Have To Pierce A Potato Before Baking In Air Fryer

There are a few different ways to cook potatoes in an air fryer, but do you have to pierce them first?

The answer is yes, you do have to pierce a potato before baking it in an air fryer. Piercing the potato allows the heat to circulate more evenly and prevents the potato from bursting.

If you dont pierce the potato, it might burst in the air fryer, and that could cause a mess. So its definitely a good idea to pierce it beforehand.

There are a few different ways to pierce a potato. One way is to use a fork. Just stab the potato a few times with the fork, and that should do the trick.

Another way to pierce a potato is to use a sharp knife. Cut a few slits in the potato, and that should also work.

Either way, make sure to pierce the potato before baking it in the air fryer. Otherwise, it might not cook evenly and could burst.

Here Is What You Will Need To Make These Air Fryer Baked Potatoes:

The only note I have about this recipe is that you want to make sure you are choosing small potatoes. I know it says baby and that should indicate that they need to be small but Ill say it again before the questions start. If the potatoes are more than about 2 inches they are not going to get done in the same amount of time that mine did.

You can use larger potatoes if you like but youll need to recalculate the nutrition and points and youll need to keep checking them every few minutes after 25 to see when they are fork tender!

    • 11 ounces baby Yukon Gold potatoes
    • 1 Tsp olive oil
    • 2 TBSP Hormel Real Bacon Bits
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
    • 2 Tbsp finely shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
    • 2 Tbsp fat free Greek yogurt
    • 1/8 Tsp kosher salt

  • Preheat the Air Fryer to 380°F, about 5 minutes.
  • Coat both sides of the pork chops with the oil, we like the added crispiness the oil gives the pork chops .
  • Season the pork chops on all sides with the dry rub.
  • Cook 10-15 minutes, flipping pork chops halfway through cooking.
  • Pro Tip: Be careful not to overcook the pork chops, or theyll become chewy and dry. One of our favorite tools for fail-proof meats is an instant-read thermometer. Air fry until the internal temperature reaches 145 in the thickest portion of the pork chops.

Variations And Storing Air Fried Roasted Potatoes

The variations for roasted air fryer potatoes are limited to your imagination and your seasonings. These will also store and freeze well, making great leftovers.

    • Cajun: Use a mix or blend of cajun spices for a spicy side dish to go with some Baked Cod.
    • Mexican: Blend cumin, chili powder, onion and garlic powder for nice twist. The roasted potatoes will pair perfectly with Chimichangas.
    • Greek: A combination of garlic, onion, oregano, basil, dill and salt and pepper will create a nice greek flavor. I love them with this Greek Salad.
    • Ranch: Use Homemade ranch seasoning or buy some and toss with the potatoes.
    • Storing: These air fryer potatoes will keep in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
    • Freeze: Air fryer roasted potatoes keep in the freezer sealed tightly for 6-8 months. Reheat in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 5-6 minutes.

Can You Use Chicken Breasts In Place Of Thighs

Rather than removing the skin from chicken thighs, you could instead use chicken breasts if youre worried about calories and looking to pack in as much protein as possible.

Chicken breasts are much leaner than thighs and have the highest quantity of protein by weight. Chicken breasts are the best meat option to cut fat from your diet and pack in that all-important protein for your next gym session.

You can easily adapt this recipe for chicken breasts by adjusting the cooking times. Chicken breasts cook slightly quicker than thighs and can turn chalky in texture when overcooked, so you will want to keep an eye on them.

The best way to ensure that your chicken breasts are safe to eat while also not being overcooked is to use a thermometer to check the internal temperature of the meat. The Food Safety and Inspection Service state that the safe temperature for poultry is 165°F, or 74C, so make sure that they at least hit that internal temperature.

If you still want that deliciously crispy skin that you would get with chicken thighs, you can use skin-on chicken breasts for the same effect as well.

Tips For Making Air Fryer Baked Potatoes

    Twice Baked Potatoes

First, dont overcrowd the Air Fryer basket. Four medium potatoes would probably be my maximum recommendation. You want to make sure that the skin has enough space to crisp up.

Also, there is no need to pierce with a fork first. When I made my first batch, I remembered about half-way through and freaked out a little. And you know what? They did fine! I havent pierced them since. So save yourself the trouble.

Last, different sized potatoes can have different cook times. The good news is that you can always put them back in for a few extra minutes.

If you want to try this method with red potatoes or gold potatoes, it will still taste great! Just check them during cooking. They may have a different cook time.
