Should I Buy The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Or The Duo Crisp

Instant Pot Air Fryer vs. Air Fryer Lid – Duo Crisp or Crisp Lid HONEST THOUGHTS

If you already have an Instant Pot that you love, or don’t want to upgrade to the 8-quart, you can also purchase a separate air fryer lid to pair with it! The air fryer lid comes with its own controls and functions, and is able to air fry, broil, and dehydrate. The Instant Pot air fryer lid works just as well as the one that comes with the Duo Crisp , but the big drawback is that by using it with a 6-quart pot you’ll have even less space in your air fryer.

If you mainly want the lid so that you can brown food and make smaller batch sides like fries or crispy brussels sprouts, the lid is a great option! But, if you’re looking to air fry entire meals like chicken wings, we’d recommend upgrading to the 8-quart, or just know that you’ll need to work in multiple batches!

Has Anyone Tried This Air Fryer Lid For The Instantpot Yet

I have one and it works great. You’ll be a little limited by space in the instant pot, but I’ve done full game hens in there and they turned out amazing. I had no interest in another seperate kitchen appliance, so the lid is a great solution and gets a lot of use.

I have one. Doesnt work nearly as well as a regular air fryer. I never use it. Totally regret buying it.

I personally havent tried it, but watched some reviews on YouTube when I was debating adding it to my Christmas wishlist. General consensus seemed to be that it works, but not as well as a dedicated air fryer. But if youre tight on space and/or dont want extra appliances kicking around, its a good option.

Have it. Agree with the other comment about limited space. The other thing that’s really annoying is the middle tray that tends to rotate into a vertical position really easily. So when it’s time to swap the contents halfway through cooking , you gotta move top food carefully to a plate while keeping a fairly even weight distribution because of the annoying tray, remove tray, remove bottom food, place top food in bottom, add tray, place bottom food on top…

Now I have a 2-drawer Ninja Air Fryer and I’ve never gone back to the Instant Pot air fryer lid.

If you happen to be in Canada, I’ll sell it to you lol

I made myself a hook to swap out the plate without It tiping using some old wire hangers.

What Can You Cook With Them

Instant Pot

There is a large group of foods that you can cook with an instant pot. This list includes rice, soups, meat, beans, poultry, multigrain, porridge, eggs, vegetables, pasta, and yogurt.

If you think about this variety of food we just mentioned, you will be able to conclude that you will be using your new instant pot on a daily basis. And the best part about using it is that the food will instantly be ready.

If you decide to get an instant pot ultra, you will get a dedicated egg function, as well as sous vide function. Besides, there is a cake setting included helping you make cakes and other desserts.

And lastly, you might be a little surprised to know that a lot of instant pots come with a sauté pan that you can use to stir fry foods with just a small amount of oil and also to sear meat.

This means that you can prepare a large number of different recipes using the instant pot.

Air Fryers

An air fryer is mainly designed to be a healthy replacement for deep frying. You might think that this is a bit limiting however, this is not true.

An air fryer can be almost as versatile as an instant pot. A lot of people dont know that they can use an air fryer to fry, grill, roast, and bake.

So, basically, you will be able to use the air fryer to prepare French fries, fried chicken, and potato chips, or any other fried food.

How Does The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Work

To use the air fryer lid on your Instant Pot, you plug the air fryer lid in to an electrical outlet.

You do NOT plug in your actual Instant Pot.

This surprised me at first, and I felt like I was doing something wrong, but after I used the air fryer lid for the first time it made more sense.

To cook something, you need to use the provided basket inside your Instant Pot to hold the food that you want to air fry.

Then, you plug in the air fryer lid, and place it on top of the Instant Pot.

From there, you can set the temperature, timer, and more.

The directions booklet provided with the air fryer lid tell you exactly what you need to do.

Whats The Difference Between An Instant Pot And An Air Fryer

NEW 2020 INSTANT POT AIR FRYER LID ATTACHMENT

While both appliances allow you to cook faster and healthier meals, their cooking methods differ quite a bit. The most significant distinction between an Instant Pot and an air fryer is how each appliance cooks food.

An air fryer cooks meals the same way that a convection oven would. It circulates hot air on and around your food. The rapid circulation of hot air also means that food cooks more evenly and faster than in regular ovens. This circulating air also almost eliminating the need for oil to make food crispy.

An Instant Pot is an electric pressure cooker that cooks food using hot steam. The appliance creates steam at a high temperature trapping it under a tight seal so it cant escape. This method can cook a whole meal at a fraction of the time a standard oven or stovetop can.

The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Wins Out For Design

While we did like that the Mealthy CrispLid is designed with a glass lid so you can see into the pot, the surface got too hot to touch, where the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid gets warm, but not too hot to touch. The Mealthy CrispLid comes with an elevated trivet and basket that allows the food to sit higher in the pot, which is nice because you don’t have to reach into a hot basket to remove the food. That said, this problem is resolved in the deeper Instant Pot air fryer basket by using a set of tongs.

Between Air Fryer And Instant Pot Which One Is More Versatile

An instant pot with an air fryer lid can be used as an air fryer, but an air fryer cannot function as an instant pot. As such, you can note that an instant pot has more cooking functions allowing it to boil, air fry, bake, slow cook, broil, pressure cook, and make yogurt, compared to an air fryer that mainly air fries, grills, and bakes. An instant pot is more versatile than an air fryer.

What Does An Instant Pot Do

As with air fryers, it depends on which model of Instant Pot you buy. There are as many types of Instant Pots and other name brands of pressure cookers as there are air fryers. You can get an Instant Pot for the beginner pressure cooker or you can get one that will do everything but the dishes for you.

Does The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Work Well

Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Review

We made fresh-cut french fries using the air fryer lid, and we had to go through a bit of trial and error. We were able to make a perfect batch of French fries, but only when we made smaller batches and greased the air frying basket with a small amount of cooking spray .

We also tried baking and experienced similar results. The cookies came out excellent, but only in small batches. We couldnt make more than a few cookies at a time without compromising on the quality.

We reheated leftover buffalo wings and nachos, and the air fryer lid shined in its reheating capabilities. It did an excellent job of evenly reheating leftovers, making the meal taste as though it was just prepared.

Basically, you can use the functions of the pressure cooker to bring a chicken or vegetables to tender goodness and finish everything off with a bit of air frying. And you can do everything in one pot, only by switching lids!

So, if you like convenient appliances and enjoy the idea of a ready-to-use air fryer that can be easily stashed away, you need it.

Of course, there is also the alternative of the Instant Pot DUO Crisp, but if you already own a 6 quart Instant Pot, the Air Fryer lid makes a lot more sense.

Instant Pot Vs Air Fryer: Functionality & Price

Instant Pots and air fryers vary in price, depending on the model and amount of features. Ask yourself: What will I cook?

Am I feeding a family of five, or just cooking for myself? Do I make complicated dishes or just want to air fry some chicken wings here and there?

Depending on the intended use, you can make an informed decision on budget and functionality needs.

The Instant Pot Ultra, for example, is on the higher end at around $150 but does the work of 10 different appliances in one.

For more budget-minded consumers, this Instant Pot 6-in-1 is half the price yet straightforward and durable.

This Air Fryer from Philips has fat removal technology and tons of space but will cost you almost $300. However, you can easily find smaller, simpler air fryers for under $100, like this one.

Again, it all comes down to intended use and personal budget.

Is Instapot Air Fryer Lid Easy To Use

Sadly, theres a caveat or two:

First, the lid lifts uncomfortably due to its weight. Thus, if you have mobility issues, you should check the Ninja Air Fryers instead for a more straightforward machine.

Secondly, its not ideal for hefty portions. If thats your goal, I highly recommend either the Instant Pot Pro Crisp or the Ninja 2-Basket Air Fryer .

On the bright side, if none of those issues bother you, then the Air Fryer Attachment will suit you flawlessly. For one, it takes less footprint in the kitchen than having two separate appliances. And more importantly, its more budget-friendly. Thats a win-win right there!

On the flip side:

Fortunately, the lid features easy-to-understand controls. Moreover, thanks to the digital display, you dont have to play a guessing game whether your recipe is done or not.

Other included accessories such as the non-stick basket should only be used with plastic/silicone cooking utensils. By doing so, you can prevent the ceramic coating from chipping and prolong its quality.

Likewise, solely use soft sponges when cleaning the non-stick accessories. Or, when utilizing the dishwasher, ensure to not use harsh chemical detergents.

The lid, on the other hand, only needs some wiping with a damp cloth.

Which One Is Better

Best Air Fryer Lid | Mealthy Crisplid vs Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid | Review and Demo

Instant Pot vs. Air Fryer which one is better? Well, thats a tough question. Since the two devices do completely different things, its hard to compare the two. Ultimately, it comes down to what your daily cooking needs are!

If you love slow cooker foods and want big meals cooked in a quicker amount of time, then the Instant Pot may be right for you. If you find yourself heating up chicken nuggets in the oven, making fried food, or reheating foods often, then an air fryer may be more useful for you!

Which Is Better: Air Fryer Or Instant Pot

It all depends on your preferences and the foods you want to cook in the future. Lets say that you want to prepare a cheesy bacon casserole, chickpeas, or chicken.

The air fryer is the perfect choice for these challenges. However, if you want to make a veggie soup, you will need an instant pot since the air fryer isnt capable of cooking soups.

The final choice also depends on your budget. Theyre both cheap. Still, the price depends on the type of features and accessories. Theres also a difference in power consumption.

How often do you plan on utilizing each of these tools? I believe that most people will utilize the instant pot more often than they will utilize the air fryer which can lead to more power being consumed by this tool. Either way, both help you decrease the cooking time.

Is The Instant Pot Duo Crisp Worth It

Thats a fairly personal choice, since a lot of the answer depends on how YOU personally cook and use your current appliances. If you NEVER eat fried/deep fried sort of foods, you most likely dont need to pay the extra for the air fry capabilities.

In our experience though, French fries come out better than from the oven. That might be enough to convince just about anyone in America that this is worth the price!

Which Is Healthier: Air Fryer Vs Instant Pot

Most of this decision depends on what kind of food you plan on cooking most in it. As with almost any cooking gadget or appliance, you can make healthy food and you can make unhealthy food.

If you plan on making mostly foods that you would normally deep fry, such as french fries, egg rolls, and pizza in your air fryer, I would say that the Instant Pot is the healthier choice.

If you plan on making meals that are full of processed ingredients, carbs, and unhealthy fats, the air fryer would be the healthier choice.

It’s all in how the user cooksand the recipes they make.

Instant Pot Air Fryer Duo Crisp Review

Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Review: Easy Air Frying

The Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer is essentially an Instant Pot that can also air fry things. It comes with two removable lids, one for pressure cooking and one for air frying.

It is available in 6 quart AND 8 quart size. NOTE: this is the size of the instant pot, but the actual air fryer basket is smaller.

It is capable of a lot of the standard instant pot functions, EXCEPT it does NOT have the Yogurt Function .

I typically really only use the pressure cook, saute, and yogurt function on any of my instant pots. So not having the yogurt button is a negative for me.

Since it is the DUO Crisp, it comes with an air fryer basket, a dehydrating and broiling tray, as well as a protective pad. Its also dishwasher safe and the total capacity of the air fryer basket is

For those looking for a multicooker and an air fryer features, this is the ultimate combo. The food is just as crispy and juicy as if you had pulled it from an air fryer!

Here are some pros and cons of the Instant Pot Air Duo Crisp:

Pros of the Duo Crisp + Air Fryer:

Cons as a Pressure Cooker:

  • Since they are one in the same, you will only be able to use it for one recipe. If you had a seperate air fryer, you could cook a side dish while using the instant pot.
  • The 8qt size is quite large for a smaller family
  • Does not have the yogurt function or many other presets .
  • There isnt much info about how to air fry in the manual.
