Can I Put Parchment Paper In An Air Fryer
Kana parchment paper can withstand temperatures as high as 428 degrees Fahrenheit inside your air fryer. The parchment paper should be added to your air fryer basket at the same time as your other ingredients in order to achieve the best results. If the paper does not raise up and come into touch with the heating source while cooking, the food will not be burned.

Use Yukon Golds For Air Fryer Hash Browns
While Russet potatoes are the most common potato, I would find Yukon potatoes to yield the best results for these air fryer hash browns.
They are a bit smaller than Russets and have a waxy skin instead of the hard brown skin. The key element of Yukon potatoes is that they have slightly less starch in them than the Russet potato, so the strands stay separated more and they get really crispy.
That said, you can substitute Russet potatoes and they should turn out just as crispy and delicious. I would make sure to peel Russets as the skin can be thicker.
I like my hash browns to be like individual whisps of crispy potato, but if you wanted more of a hash brown patty situation, it would be fine to use Russet potatoes as the strands will stick together more.

These crispy patties are amazing: the texture is crispy, perfect without all the oil. You really dont need to add extra oil spray at all because the frozen patties already have oil in them. But if you decide to spray with oil, the hash browns will just have a more crispy deep fried texture. They are so quick and easy, it makes for a perfect, no fuss breakfast.
Tips For Air Fryer Hash Browns
- To prevent sticking, spray the basket of an air fryer with nonstick spray and then layer in the hash browns in a thin layer. I like to spritz the hash browns with a little spray as well just to give them some fat on the surface. Its impossible to have a completely single layer of hash browns, but try to have an even layer without any huge hills of hash browns.
- Start cooking, then stir halfway. Air fry this batch of hash browns at 350F for about 8 minutes. Then take out the hash browns and stir them gently just to make sure they are cooking evenly. Then they go back in the air fryer for another 6-8 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.

Whats The Difference Between Hash Browns Home Fries & French Fries
Homemade hash browns are traditionally shredded potatoes that are pan fried until golden brown and crispy.
American home fries are pan-fried potatoes cut into small cubes or slices, fried in butter and often sauteed with onions, peppers, and a medley of savoury seasonings like chili powder and herbs.
French fries are made by peeling the raw potatoes and cutting them into long, thin strips then deep frying.

Frozen Hash Browns: Always make sure that you use frozen and pre-shredded hashbrowns. Fresh hashbrowns result in soggy potatoes! Dont Overcrowd: Your hash browns should be layered evenly in the air fryer basket. Overcrowding the potatoes wont cook them evenly. If you buy a bigger bag of hash browns, then make sure to cook them in batches because you wont be able to cook them all at the same time.Do Not Thaw: Use the frozen hash browns straight from the freezer because you dont need to thaw the frozen potatoes first.Flip: Flip the hash browns halfway through the cooking process. This allows the hash browns to crisp up because it helps to cook them evenly on both sides, then use a spatula to help you flip the potatoes.Adjust Time: You may need to adjust the cooking time on your air fryer because other brands can cook differently. If you need to cook them longer, then just add 1-2 minutes until it reaches your desired crispness.
In the Refrigerator: Store leftover hash browns in the refrigerator in an airtight container. To Reheat: Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the refrigerated hash browns in the air fryer basket and cook for 5 minutes, or until warmed through. Enjoy!

The Secret To Making Hash Browns In An Air Fryer
Let’s be honest: hash browns are basically an excuse to eat fries for breakfast. Crispy, carby, and oh-so-comforting, they’re good with everything from eggs to gravy or sautéed veggies. But you’ll take hash browns to a whole new level if you make them in an air fryer. There’s no messy oil splatters here, no sticking, and no need to freak out when that portion you tried to flip completely crumbles apart in the pan. It’s no surprise that many of us hold off on hash browns until we’re eating out for breakfast.
First, the air fryer. These kitchen gadgets have been all the rage thanks to their claim to “fry” foods quickly with little to no added oil . According to Wired, they’re really not frying anything at all they’re more like “convection ovens in a bucket.” Not to mention, these appliances also take up a lot of countertop real estate, according to Taste. The advantages are hard to argue with, though: frozen food cooks up fast, and absolutely everything tastes better fried.
Cooking Frozen Hash Browns In An Air Fryer
Luckily, frozen food hash brown patties are pre-cooked and therefore already have a little bit of oil in them. But if you opt for the Trader Joes Frozen Shredded Hash Browns, they have absolutely no oil in them and are my favorite hash browns to buy when I am making air fryer hash browns. This is a recipe card I pull out when I feel like cooking hash browns in the air fryer for the perfect addition to my breakfast. Sometimes Im craving extra crispy hash browns other times Im fine with enjoying the individual patties softer to be eaten on their own, crumbled, or in a breakfast sandwich.
To start, its important to lay out the hash browns in a single layer inside the air fryer tray. Overlapping hash browns disrupts the cooking process by causing them to heat unevenly. At 370 degrees Fahrenheit, an appropriate cook time would be 7-10 minutes, flipping each hash brown patty once carefully with a spatula at the 4 or 5-minute mark.
Ensuring the best results and approximate cook times will require you to know what works best for the size of your air fryers. Many different brands exist on the marketplace today, but a popular name that comes to mind is the Cosori air fryer, which has a 5.8 quart basket that holds up to 6 patties at a time. In some cases, youll need to preheat the air fryer ahead of cooking as well. Familiarizing yourself with your air fryer truly maximizes the likelihood of successfully cooking a wide range of foods.
