What Can’t Be Cooked In An Air Fryer

Cook’s Essentials 3 qt. 1400 Watt Air Fryer with Recipe Book on QVC

There are a few foods and food preparations that won’t work well in an air fryer. Heavy, wet battered ingredients, like a corn dog, will not crisp up, and the batter will end up on the bottom of the air fryer. Bacon will make a huge mess as the circulating air will spray the grease everywhere. Large chickens will cook unevenly. Leafy greens are too light and will fly around, and dishes with a lot of cheese may end up oozing before becoming crispy.

Easy Air Fryer Recipes

First up on our list is air fryer bacon. This is really one of the easiest recipes because all you need to do is put the bacon in the air fryer in a single layer. I like to use wright brand thick cut bacon and I cut it in half so it will fit in the air fryer. The air fryer I use is 5.7 quarts so that will hold about 5 pieces of bacon cut in half. If your air fryer is smaller, it would not hold as much.

Use this bacon to pair with other air fryer meals like Air Fryer Mushrooms!

I set the temperature of the air fryer to 350F and I set the time to 9 minutes. If you use thinner bacon, check it after 5 minutes and then every minute after that because it will cook fast!

A quick tip on cooking bacon in the air fryer. If you want to cook more than one batch, make sure you drain the grease after each cook time. It will start to smoke if you don’t.

Next on my list of easy air fryer recipes is chicken wings. I will never cook chicken wings any other way again! They come out perfectly and so crispy! Plus, no dirty oven pan!

I always spray my air fryer with cooking spray when I make chicken wings because they are prone to sticking. I lay them in a single layer and I pat them dry with paper towels. Then I season with salt and pepper.

Now we just cook them at 380F for 25 minutes. I like to open the air fryer basket every 5 minutes or so and shake them so they cook evenly .

After the 25 minutes are up, I increase the temperature to 400F and cook for 3-5 minutes more.

Can You Reheat Already Fried Food In An Air Fryer

One of the trickiest things about reheating fried food is achieving its original level of crispinessthe oven doesn’t quite do the trick, and the microwave makes it soggy. The air fryer, however, does an excellent job of reheating the food while crisping up the exterior. Set the air fryer to 350 F to 400 F and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
