Cosori Air Fryer Review Item: Air Fryer Bacon
I tested the Cosori air fryer out for the first time with some bacon. Now because Im a bit particular in how I like my bacon, I wanted it cooked flat. YES, I said flat!
I normally cook bacon on a sheet pan in the oven because it comes out nice and crispy AND FLAT. So the basket didnt allow for a full pound of bacon to be cooked at once. Im ok with that though.
That being said, if you dont care or prefer your bacon curly and twisty, all the power to you! Throw those bacon strips on in the basket girl, , get it all in there, willy nilly!
So Cosori advises that you should first preheat the air fryer before actually cooking (much like an oven}. I think its a great idea because you dont waste the time with the food sitting in the basket, waiting for the unit to heat up.
Luckily, theres a convenient PREHEAT button to do just that.

Also as part of the preset functions, one of them is bacon, so I used it as well. I let it do its thing the first round, and for my own personal preference for bacon, I did have to do it twice to achieve that perfect crispiness that most of us love.
You also have the option to manually input your times so you dont have to do the bacon preset twice if you prefer crispier bacon.
And yes, all that extra fat and grease dripped down to the bottom of the tray- cool eh?

- The screws on the basket release button that holds the inner basket can occasionally get loose. We make sure to tighten the screws occasionally to make sure that the connection stays tight so the inner basket snaps together tightly to the outer basket.
- We wish the inner basket was made of ceramic because ceramic baskets wont wear as easily during washing. Ceramic baskets are the best! So far, both our Cosori non-stick baskets still look good and dont stick because were careful about soaking them first before washing. Or you can use perforated parchment sheets to help food from sticking and will prolong the life of the non-stick inner baskets. But if you are a strong scrubber, youll eventually start to scrub off the non-stick coating.

These are great for manual cooking where you can select your own temperature and time. We prefer using these because food comes in different sizes and thicknesses, so not all chicken, beef, shrimp or veggies cook the same. But theres also lots of time and temperature pre-sets available to cook different types of food. These are great for first timers so you can get an easy approximate cooking time and temp for your foods. After using the presets, you can either add more or less time based on your previous cooking times and your preferred doneness.

How Easy Is It To Set Up
The manual, I am pleased to say, was very straightforward and easy to follow.
Important to note are a number of general safety guidelines that deserve to be reviewed. These safeguards certainly should not be overlooked by the first-timer. I soon realized that I needed a generous amount of space, so that air could circulate behind the machine while in use, which dictated where I would do my cooking. I was pleasantly surprised by the length of the electrical cord as it allowed me to find the optimal position while still plugging it in with ample cord length to spare.
I familiarized myself with the way the inner and outer baskets clicked into one another and was feeling quite confident in my understanding. This actually seemed quite simple. Within 5 minutes I felt I was thoroughly prepared and ready to move on to the nitty-gritty.

Cosori Air Fryer Review Item: Air Fryer French Fries
Next, I tested the air fryer by cooking some french fries. I decide to use fresh potatoes instead of frozen ones.
I cut some Russet potatoes with a mandoline for easy, perfect sticks that will crisp up well. After that, I soaked the potatoes in cold water for about 1 hour. Changing the water once at around 20-30 minutes time.
Next, pat dries the potatoes. Make sure they are very dry so that you can get the crispy texture that you want. While waiting for the potatoes to be completely dry, preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
Lay the fries in a single layer to allow the hot air to circulate better. This is to ensure the fries cook evenly.
I cook the french fries for about 13 to 15 minutes. Monitor closely when they are cooking. Adjust the time accordingly as the temperature for different air fryer is slightly different. After 13 minutes, the result of the french fries is satisfyingcrispy on the outside and soft inside.

How To Use A Cosori Air Fryer
Just because the unit comes with an advanced control paneldoesnt mean that it should be difficult to use. You must have an easy timewhen working with it, even if you are a beginner. Generally, anybody shouldknow how to use a Cosori air fryer without having any troubles.

Design: Nice Enough For Counter Life
This air fryer has an impressive 5.8-quart capacity and is not excessively large. It will take more space on the counter than a toaster, but its reasonable for an air fryer. If you’re the type who doesnt like appliances staying on the counter, its light enough to move easily.
Most of the exterior has a brushed black surface, which I liked much better than glossy surfaces that show fingerprints easily. The controls are on the front, above the basket, with icons for different types of food and manual controls for time and temperature. Even when I used presets or manual settings, I checked the food as it cooked to adjust time or temperature if I needed to. I question the value of the “Frozen” button since the cooking times for frozen foods vary a lot. I liked the preheat button, though, and thought it was a handy option.
The cooking basket is the best feature of this fryer. Its wide enough to accommodate food in fewer layers for better airflow, and its easy to shake food if it needs to be rearranged during cooking. The basket is somewhat shallow, making it easy to get a spatula under food to flip or remove the item, and its still deep enough to hold several layers of food.

The Cosori Air Fryer: First Impressions
So when Cosori sent me their air fryer to test, it arrived at my door with super quick shipping, and it was really well packed. It came with the main air frying unit, the instruction manual, and a really comprehensive air fryer cookbook!
The main appliance had a pretty LED screen with a bunch of presets. I liked the blue light indication of what was working and such when you plugged it in. Because my camera was acting up a bit and the lighting was funky, I have included a pic of the preset screen from Cosoris website.
At the bottom of the unit, it housed a basket-type drawer at the bottom which also had an inside basket within it, that had large perforations in order for grease to drain into the main basket.
I was eager to start fryin up some stuff! LOL

Large Capacity With 58 Qt Full Of Flavor
When talking about capacity, the Cosori Max XL is a winner. And this is not only because it has a 5.8 quart basket, but also because this basket is square-shaped. This is a huge thing compared to other air friyers.
The square shape of the basket is more convenient that a circular shape one, even if the capacity is the same or bigger.
The reason for this is that food has a more convenient space to fit in. For instance, if you cook hamburgers, the meat is circular shape. If the meat happens to occupy all the space of the basket, is difficult to manipulate it without touching the basket and potentially burning yourself.
With a square basket is easier to manipulate food because the corners usually provide enough space to use a spatula.
Also, the 5.8 quart are enough to fit a whole 5-pound chicken, or enough food to serve to 3 to 5 people in one go.
The square basket as well is removable so you dont have to manipulate food right there inside the air fryer. You can take it to a table and comfortably work the servings from there.

Cosori Air Fryer Review Item: Air Fryer Muffins
I saw in the Cosori Air Fryer recipe book that you can make muffins . So I wanted to give them a shot. I had a pack of bran muffin mix I picked up from the store and made them as per the instructions on the package. I didnt have silicone cupcake liners, so I had to resort to using the paper ones.
Using the PIP method , I lined the muffin cupcake liners in a cake pan and popped them right in for 12 minutes at 350.
The muffins too, turned out great.!!
They were soft inside, firm and crisp outside. .I would, however, recommend sticking to silicone cupcake liners, unless you want your muffins to come out shaped all wonky- like mine did! But hey, they tasted great and my tummy doesnt care what shape they were in! LOL
