Unlike the term air fryer, the Instant Pot is not a sort of kitchen device. Its more of a brand name. Because Instant Pot has become such a dominant player in the market, it has become associated with what it is: an electric multicooker.

What Is The Instant Vortex Mini Air Fryer Like To Use
So, so easy. The drawer pulls out with low effort, but clicks into place firmly. Its a case of pressing your desired cooking mode and choosing your cooking time and temperature, before pressing Start. Note that the timer wont start counting down until your food is added, after the preheat is complete. The air fryer will tell you when to add your food with a loud beep, and once youve opened and closed the door it will start the timer countdown.
Like many air fryers, the Instant Vortex Mini cooks faster than most ovens. I put in some slices of streaky bacon and after 8 minutes, they were perfectly crispy. I love cooking bacon in an air fryer. All the fat drips away into the base of the tray, leaving crispy rendered fat and evenly cooked bacon slices.
If you plan on cooking fatty things like bacon, I recommend draining out the fat while its still warm. It sets quite fast and because this air fryer is so small, it made cleaning it a bit tricky.

Recipes Made For You Instant Vortex Plus
This air fryer is still new to the market, so you might have some limited resources at first. However, as bloggers continue to develop and perfect recipes, you will definitely see more coming through the pipeline in the future.
In the meantime, you can use almost any air fryer recipe with some adjustments on how the food sits. Try using recipes that resemble the same mini-oven shape as the Vortex. At first, it might be a trial and error process until youve honed your own Vortex skills.
Remember, you cant make anything with a liquid batter unless you freeze it first and you also cant make anything in large quantities.
Which Model Did I Choose
I chose the Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven because it has a larger capacity than the drawer style air fryer. I like that it has so many functions, including the ability of the rotisserie basket to turn food by itself! Another factor in my decision was that it has a smaller footprint than a full size air fryer toaster oven, so it fits perfectly on my countertop, and looks great, too!

To see how the air fryers compared to one another, I headed to Trader Joes and went straight to the freezer aisle. I grabbed bags of frozen french fries, orange chicken, and cauliflower gnocchi. Frozen food created a level playing field plus, if any of the air fryers didnt work well for frozen fries, that would be a huge strike against them. I tested the fries first, then the chicken, and, lastly, the cauliflower gnocchi air-frying everything according to the package instructions. Not Quite Convinced With The Hype
I wanted to love this product. In a single household and with limited shelf space, I thought this would be perfect. It is just too small. Sure, it saves switching the oven on to cook my fries, but it fits nothing else in. So, unless I want to eat dinner in three courses, I still need the oven or stovetop. That said, the air fryer function is acceptable and quite quick, the machine looks swish and even my elderly mother can easily manage the user friendly interface. It is also super easy to clean. So Id still recommend, but with a strong caution on size.

Storing The Air Fryer
If you have a pantry to store this air fryer, that would be ideal. Its average in size when you compare it to other kitchen gadgets that may be already sitting on your countertop. It weighs 6.6 lbs with dimensions of 14.17L x 13.86W x 14.96H Inches.
Its very sleek in design so it seems less obtrusive compared to its egg-shaped contemporaries. All the accessories can be stored inside it, with the exception of the fetching tool. The power cable is attached so unlike Instant Pot, you cant store that inside itself. Some people use their air fryers so frequent that it has earned its place on the kitchen counter.
Cleaning The Instant Vortex Mini Air Fryer
Because its drawer is so small, this is a very easy air fryer to clean. The exterior and top wipe clean, and the basket and drawer insert can be placed in the dishwasher. Cleaning by hand is speedy though, so if you want to use it multiple times in a day, it wont take long to clean up before its next use.

Cooking Chips In The Instant Vortex Mini Air Fryer
The ultimate test of an air fryer is its ability to make chips. I made sweet potato fries and frozen oven chips in this air fryer, and both times I was very impressed.
For a start, my main reservation with a 2-litre air fryer was the capacity. My partner and I have not cooked in an air fryer this small before, and we were worried that it wouldnt fit meals for two. While the tray filled up fast, it was perfectly capable of catering to both of us.
Most impressive was how evenly these chips cooked, because they were quite packed in and had little room for air circulation. After a couple of shakes mid-cycle, the fries were very well cooked and crispy on the outside.
Can the Instant Vortex Mini Air Fryer cook for two? Absolutely. Its definitely small, but because of its high-power design its able to cook large portions evenly, even in its small basket.
These sweet potato chips only took 25 minutes, which sped along meal times significantly.

The difference is that they wont come out of the fryer dripping or shiny with excess oil if theyre air-fried. Therefore, if you wish to eat healthier food with less oil, an air fryer is a good choice.
Because the air fryer functions as a convection oven, this is conceivable. A cooking element generates heat. The heated air is then circulated around the cooking chamber by a series of fans.
