Today I will be sharing 3 quick wing sauces that you can make while the wings are cooking in the air fryer. To get started, cut and dry your wings completely. Dry wings will yield a crispy texture. After the wings are dried. Toss them in baking powder along with a dash of salt and pepper. You can get creative here if youd like and season the chicken with your favorite spice blend.
Next, place in the air fryer and air fryer until crispy . As you can see, the wings are SUPER crispy and mouth-watering. At this point, you can simply serve the wings as is or toss them in a wing sauce. Now to the fun part, the sauces! The first is buffalo sauce, the 2nd option is a honey bbq sauce and the 3rd is a garlic parmesan coating. if making things from scratch is not your thing, simply toss the wings in a store-bought wings sauce!

Making these Air Fryer sticky wings could not be easier!
Tips For Making Air Fryer Chicken Wings
To get extra crispy air fryer wings, make sure your chicken wings are dry before coating with oil. I recommend rinsing them with water and patting them dry with paper towels.
Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess water while you gather the rest of your ingredients.
Doing this will ensure that the chicken wing skin will fry to a golden brown crisp in the air fryer.
Don’t skimp on the oil. While you won’t want to use an excess amount of oil , you won’t get that crispy golden skin texture without it.
Use a simple oil with a high smoke point like vegetable oil or peanut oil.
Pro Tip: When cooking meat it is extremely important that you measure the internal temperature to make sure your meat has been cooked to completion. Chicken is cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F/74°C.
Serve sauce on the side. Since chicken wings are dark meat, the meat will likely stay nice and juicy inside. Doing it this way will let everyone enjoy their favorite wing flavors, or more than one.
It’s important to serve a creamy dipping sauce with wings too! Ranch dressing and creamy blue cheese dressing are great choices.

Factors Affecting Chicken Wings Cook Time In An Air Fryer
The following factors will affect the time you cook your chicken in the air fryer
Frozen or at room temperature? Frozen chicken wings from the freezer will require more time to cook. Why? More time will be required to melt the icing and warm the meat to start cooking. However, you can thaw them during preparation to reduce cooking time by some minutes.
On the other hand, fresh chicken wings or those kept at room temperature require less time to cook in an air fryer. They require less time and heat to warm and start cooking than frozen ones. Typically, you can save more time cooking fresh chicken wings kept at room temperature.
- Boneless or with bones?
Boneless chicken wings are a little expensive compared to those with bones. Also, if you have slaughtered chickens at home, it will take you more time to remove the bones. That is why most families prefer chicken wings with bones.
Chicken wings with bones require more time to cook in the air fryer, while boneless will cook a little faster. Why? It will take more time for heat to penetrate and cook meat surrounding the bones. In addition, bones can absorb heat that could have cooked the meat faster.
- Size and thickness of the wings
Smaller-sized chicken wings will cook faster compared to larger and thicker ones. More time will be required for the heat to penetrate and cook thicker wings, requiring you to cook the chicken wings for a longer time.
- Cooking temperatures
- Spacing in the air fryer basket

How Do You Make Leftover Wings Crispy
You can preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Just put parchment paper on a baking sheet and place the wings in one layer. Bake for 15 minutes or until they are thoroughly heated through.
I personally prefer reheat chicken wings in air fryer though. Just a few minutes in a preheated air fryer at 400 F. usually does the trick. Of course fresh is always best but dont throw anything away for sure! Leftovers can be resurrected.

Buffalo Wings Vs Other Sauces
These wings are 100% good enough to eat naked, on their own. But variety is the spice of life too, amirite?!
Air fryer chicken wings make the best ever buffalo wings. Buffalo wings are super simple: equal parts Franks Red Hot and melted butter. We like to mix it up and use other hot sauces too, like sriracha buffalo or Crystal buffalo.
Truth is, we almost always reduce the amount of butter or leave it out entirely for a healthier twist. We made these specific wings with just Secret Aardvark Habanero Sauce and they were phenomenal. You can also make these wings:
- Korean wings in small pan, heat up 1 tablespoon each of ketchup, gochujang, honey, and brown sugar, 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and grated ginger, along with 2 cloves crushed garlic. Read more about Korean Fried Chicken here.
- Pok Pok fish sauce wings combine 1 tablespoon each of lime juice, fish sauce, and sugar, along with 1 clove crushed garlic and 1/2 sliced Thai birds eye chili. Let sit for 10 minutes for the flavors to meld before tossing. Read more about Pok Pok Style Fish Sauce Chicken Wings here.
- Honey garlic wings Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small pan over medium heat and add 8 cloves of crushed garlic and cook until soft but not brown. Stir in 2 tablespoons honey, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon water, bring to a simmer, then toss with the wings.

The Secret To Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings
To ensure the fat renders and the wings crisp, air fry them at two separate temperatures.
Heres how you make your air fryer wings crispy:
- First, air fryer the chicken wings at 360 degrees F for 24 minutes, turning once halfway through. This step renders the fat.
- Then, turn up the heat to 390 degrees F. This high temperature crisps the outsides of the wings, leaving the interior meat moist.
The two-temperature approach is easy, less messy than baking soda, and you put raw chicken in an air fryer! This method works for frozen air fryer chicken wings too.

What Is The Best Air Fryer
Air fryers come in two different styles. The more popular type has a drawer/basket that slides in the front and usually doesnt require preheating. The second type looks like a toaster oven and opens with a door, like a mini version of a regular oven.
We have tried a few different air fryers and these are our three favorites depending on your budget and air fryer style preference:

Cooking Chicken Wings In The Air Fryer Seems Messy
Line the bottom of the air fryer basket with foil to keep the wings from sticking to the basket and making too much of a mess. Be sure to leave the sides of the basket uncovered so that air can circulate.
Yes, you’ll have a small mess in the air fryer to clean up after cooking wings, but it’s nothing compared to the mess that frying in oil makes.
This recipe was made in a Cosori Air Fryer with a Basket. The recipe should work in other air fryers.
Keep in mind that each air fryer runs differently, it is important to check your food often.
