When air fryers first arrived on the market, they were all similar sizes due to the state of the technology. With the current increases in power, air fryers come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Air fryers come in numerous sizes and various designs, all to accommodate a wide variety of family sizes as well as individuals.

One of the advantages of having a large air fryer is, of course, the extra capacity. But the spacious interior isnt the only benefit of a large air fryer.
Versatility
With an air fryer large enough to cook for a family of 5, you will also be able to bake cakes, make lasagnas, large batches of cookies, pizzas and more.
More components
Large air fryers are capable of hosting more accessories, such as grill racks, cake pans, pyrex pans, silicone cups, and many other accessories. In small air fryers, it may be hard to use other accessories than the ones made specifically for the air fryer, but in larger air fryers one can use anything thats suitable to put in an air fryer.
So instead of buying a ton of accessories, you may use what you have at home. Economically, a large air fryer may be more strategic than purchasing a small one plus the accessories.
Layering
Large air fryers are often equipped with layering possibilities, which translates into more food. You can cook french fries on one layer and chicken on the other. This is very convenient because chicken and french fries may not have the same cooking time.
So instead of removing everything from the air fryer and gather the fries before placing the chicken back in the air fryer, you may just remove the tray filled with french fries and continue cooking the chicken.

We liked the chunky looks and touch controls of this Salter model, which comes with a full range of pre-settings and a useful safety cut-off function.
The glossy casing shows marks easily, and the slanted top, with the touch controls, need wiping down often, but the inner basket itself was very easy to keep clean, with food and residue wiping away easily from its non-stick coating.

Do You Want To Use Your Air Fryer As A Dehydrator
A lot of air fryers are good for dehydrating food, something which is becoming increasingly popular. If you are doing this, I would recommend making sure you buy an oven style air fryer, as this will have multiple racks . The smallest air fryer oven on the market is around 10 quarts/ liters, so that would be the minimum you would need. If you plan on doing a lot of dehydrating, I would say simply buy the biggest air fryer you can stand having in your kitchen!

My Toaster Oven Is Nearly As Good As An Air Fryer
Everyone raves about brussels sprouts in the air fryer so I decided to try an experiment. I cooked three batchesone in the air fryer, one in my toaster oven with the convection feature, and one in my standard oven.
The air-fried sprouts were the best. They were perfectly browned and crisped on the outside and tender but not mushy on the inside. And they were the fastest to finish, ready in about 20 minutes.
The standard oven was subpar. It took a long time to preheat, and then a long time to cook the sprouts I probably should have cranked its heat up higher than 350 degrees. By the time the sprouts were brown on the outside they were too soft on the inside.
But the convection toaster oven delivered results nearly as good as the air fryer. It needed a few minutes to heat up, but it was hot by the time I was finished slicing the sprouts and tossing them in a little oil and salt. And it took five minutes longer for the sprouts to brown and crisp, but the flavor and consistency was comparable.
Plus, it was much quieter than the air fryer, and I already have it and use it, so it doesnt take up any more space in my kitchen. And the trays I used for cooking the sprouts only take as much room as two dinner plates in my dishwasher. For me, as much as I wanted to love the air fryer, the toaster oven comes out on top.

This five-quart oven cooked chicken wings especially well with crispy skin and juicy center, and we found the power nearly on par with the Ninja and Dash ovens. It also made very crispy French fries and toasty mozzarella sticks with a gooey center.
One small drawback for this machine is its slightly clumsy build. The basket didn’t slide into the oven as flush as you might want and that could ultimately lead to problems but it didn’t affect my use of it in any way. This air fryer also has a lot of presets which I don’t generally care for since they don’t account for how much food you’re cooking or the size of, let’s say, a chicken wing or thickness of your French fries. I find it’s always better to use a rough preset recommendation and a lot of progress checking the first few times you cook something. That way you’ll learn about the oven and its power for yourself.
All that said, this 4-quart digital air fryer has a lot of oomph for just $60 and it’s a great size for most kitchens.
What Can You Not Cook In An Air Fryer
You can cook most foods in an air fryer, but there are some exceptions. You want to avoid air-frying battered foods, like beer-battered fish or corn dogs. While these types of foods fare well with deep fryers, they can splatter and cause a huge mess in an air fryer.
Its also a good idea to avoid using an air fryer to cook things with a lot of cheese, like fresh mozzarella sticks or jalapeño poppers. While frozen versions of these items do okay, fresh cheese melts too quickly , leaving you with a mess and a not-so-great finished product.
