• 2cupswhite all purpose flour
• 1Tbsblack pepper

• Soak the chicken in the buttermilk for about 2 ours in the refrigerator
• In a separate bowl, combine flour and seasonings and mix well
• Remove chicken from buttermilk and set on a plate
• Dip each piece of chicken into the flour mixture, followed by the buttermilk and then once more into the flour mixture
• Place each piece of chicken into the fry basket
• Place the fry basket into the Power Air Fryer XL
• Press the M button and scroll over to the chicken icon
• Adjust cook time to 20 minutes at 360 degrees and begin
• Turn chicken with tongs about every 5 minutes to prevent any sticking
• Serve immediately

The air fryer was on the breakfast bar open air flow all the way around it and it caused an electrical fire. My brother was at my parents house and hurried to unplug it and then had to turn the circuit off at the breaker. When you think of southern style food, what are some of the first things that come to mind? Casseroles? Sweet tea? What about fried chicken? If you automatically thought of something battered and fried, youre definitely not alone! Its no secret that we love our fried foods here in the south. Heck, we even fry our vegetables! Just walk into any local diner around here and youll find that the majority of the menu items are fried and if theyre not, the cooks will be more than happy to fry it for you!

While I love fried foods as much as the next person, Im also aware that frying all of our foods isnt always the wisest choice to make in regards to our health.

But how can I possibly still enjoy my favorite southern-style favorites without breaking out the oil and frying pan? When I make fried chicken, I want it to be golden brown and crispy, and you cant achieve that kind of magic by throwing it in the oven to bake!

But that, my friends, is where the Power Air Fryer XL stepped in to save the day, and its completely changed my fried chicken game in a really BIG way!

For this recipe, I decided to use chicken drumettes because theyre my very favorite. I tossed the chicken in a bowl and covered it in a layer of creamy buttermilk. I covered the bowl and let it set in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.

Theres a lot of stuff in the box. So many parts! Lots of sharp pointy parts that look a little intimidating. Clockwise, from machine rollie-poly basket for small foods, rotisserie fork , 10 skewers, rotisserie wheels, rotisserie handle, rotisserie stand , a random screw, 4 racks.

PRO: The rollie-poly basket is amazing. Stick your food into the basket and the basket rotates, so that the hot air circulates evenly.

PRO: Lots of recipes.

PRO: With the rotating rotisserie, the air fryer becomes more than just for fried foods like fries and onion rings. You can cook so much food in the Power AirFryer Oven.

PRO: The bottom tray is removable for easy cleaning.

CON: The inside is heavy duty plastic. The door is plastic. I was expecting metal, especially for an oven that costs $160. For $40 more, you can get a metal version. But that price seems so high. Here are their different models.

PRO: You can even use the Power AirFryer Oven as a dehydrator. Which makes total sense, because a dehydrator is basically just hot air blowing.

CON: The trays came a little warped, though I later when I used the trays for chicken wings, the heat helped straighten the trays a bit. The little plastic channels for the trays are very difficult to use. It takes me a couple of tries of very careful insertion in order to catch the grooves correctly. This is incredibly difficult when you have super hot trays, heavy with food on them.

PRO: The front door is removable for easy cleaning.

The XL is very good and we use it to cook most of our hot meals and we particularly like the rotary function . Our only reservation is it doesn’t cook food on the trays evenly BUT we have bought another XL as a present for one of our sons and he is rapped and he trained as a chef.

Everything you see them do on the tv ad IS A LIE. Food DOES not cook evenly you have to constantly keep turning the food. If you cook chicken pieces you have to turn them at least 3 times otherwise the underside doesn’t cook! Also you see on the ad the thing is filled to the brim with food if you do this half the food doesn’t cook the more you cook in it the worse it gets! Finally since you have to keep opening and closing the door while it’s cooking to turn stuff eventually the door is going to break. That’s what happened with mine after closing the door no matter what i did it would not turn back on and resume cooking. Threw it in the garbage where it belongs will never buy from globalshop AGAIN..

The digital controls are intuitive to program and theres a bright oven light. I do have one major quibble with this product.
