Design: Unassuming Enough To Leave On Your Counter
Although unassuming as far as looks go, the grill is fairly largethe dimensions are about 16 by 17 by 11 inchesso it will take up a considerable amount of space on your counter or in your cabinet. Its stainless steel and black finish blends in with most other basic kitchen appliances and make it good-looking enough to keep on the counter, but I’m not a huge fan of leaving things out. The good news is that it does the job of several other appliances, so if you have an air fryer and toaster sitting on your counter now, you can replace them both with this.
I wish the grill was just half an inch bigger or the crisper basket was half an inch smaller so that they would all stack nicely inside for easy storage, but this was really the only thing I could find wrong with the grill.
Theres a touchscreen digital display on the front of the grill that allows you to manually choose your cooking programs and displays the prompts add food or rest when it comes time to do either. The thermometer is housed in its own hidden magnetic compartment on the side of the grill so as long as you put it away after each use, you never have to worry about losing it.

Cleaning: Even Easier Than Cooking
With most kitchen appliances, its all fun and games until its time to clean, but things went surprisingly smoothly with the Ninja Foodi. After I turned the grill off, I let it cool for a few minutes and then used the included brush tool to wipe down the grill grates. One side of the tool has bristles, and the other is perfectly shaped to wrap around the individual grates.
I thought it was going to take a little elbow grease, but everything brushed right off and then wiped away quickly and easily with a damp sponge. The whole process took maybe three minutes.
To make things even easier, all of the removable parts except for the thermometer are dishwasher-safe, so if you want to, you can give them a quick, gentle scrub with the included brush and then toss them in the dishwasher for even faster cleanup.
Simply The Best Appliance I Have In My Kitchen
This is singlehandedly the best cooking related item Ive ever received, I use it almost daily and it cooks some of the best food Ive ever had. Grilling=amazing air crisp=amazing there literally no use for a microwave after you get one of these. Just buy one you wont regret it.
I have had this for about a year now. Ive made whole chickens, steaks, ribs, and hamburgers. All came out to perfection! Using the probe, works great. Air fryer works great. Grilling steaks or burgers comes out just like you cooked them on an outdoor grill. Using the probe takes away the guesswork. Whatever you set the wellness of your meat, it comes out that way. Ive read that the nonstick coating was coming off. Thats nonsense. I hand wash the pan and grill inserts and have had no problem with any of the nonstick coating coming off. Stay away from oven cleaners. Dont need. Follow the cleaning instructions for the pan, grill and splatter shield and you wont have any problems. Dawn Powerwash works great on the parts. If you are looking for a do all cooker this is definitely it. I use this more then heating up my kitchen with the oven. I would highly recommend this without a doubt!!! You wont go wrong. Purchased one for my daughter and she loves it!! Get it youll be happy with it!!

The multi-functional cookers have been incredibly popular, but their bulky designs can require dedicated storage space, as I all know. Like most home cooks, I will only give up precious kitchen space for appliances that are truly worth their salt.
I took full advantage of the opportunity to review the Ninja Foodi Smart XL 6-in-1 Indoor Grill once it became available. I heard incredible things about this indoor grill. It can also be used for air frying, a cooking method that uses heated air to brown and crisp food, just like a deep fryer without all the calories and fat from deep frying.
Temperature And Timer Control Will Not Work
The temperature arrow does not change the bake temperature unless I press the arrow multiple times, the arrow. must be held down for 20-30 seconds. Then drops the temperature or increases 40 or 50 degrees. Then I must press, hold to finally reach the correct temperature. The timer will not change from 350 degrees. Sometimes, after 45 seconds to a minute of holding down the arrow, it might change 5 degrees.

Yes Buy It If You Love Grilling
I dont recommend the Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 Indoor Grill XL exclusively for air-frying, baking, or dehydrating.
Still, it is an excellent option for an indoor grill for people without access to outdoor grilling. It does a great job of grilling and caramelizing foods in no time without smoking, and the fact that you can crisp them to golden perfection is a bonus!

The temperature feature is so important and to 510 degrees leaves others behind. Im enjoying using temperature probe tool really works without having to check often and foods are not being over cooked. I like the pan depths for ease of getting foods in and out. The larger size is great for spatchcock chicken and cooking for 6. And theres room to cook 2 foods at one time. My meals come out looking like decorated plate restaurant meals. Reheated foods taste and look like first prepared so we waste far less food. Id buy this Ninja over again.

The Ninja Foodi Grill XL is the most durable and practical air fryer Ive ever used. It cuts thru meat and veggies, caramelizes a steak to a perfect crispness, and leaves the meat moist. I was delighted with my purchase.
I used it within minutes of plugging the machine in, and there was no need to read the instructions. It had a straightforward control panel, and once I selected the time and temperature, the machine kicked into push mode and preheated as soon as I added the food. Preheating takes 5 to 8 minutes, depending on the setting.
I used the air fryer function to cook the frozen french fries and tater tots while grilling marinated salmon filets, chicken breasts, hot dogs, and salmon burgers. As a result, my salmon had crispy skin and was caramelized even without turning it over. My chicken looked chargrilled, and my potatoes were golden. I didnt notice any smoke while cooking.
My meals seem to have come out pretty well, tho I must admit that the very first few things I made that I cooked were slightly overcooked and dry, which was more of a user error on my part rather than a cooker problem.
My salmon had crisp skin and was caramelized on top even without flipping. The chicken looked chargrilled, and my potatoes were golden.

The Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill is really in a class of its own. I dont know of another appliance out there that offers this combination of features. However, if you dont need all of the features, or youre looking for a different set of features, there are some other options out there.
Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 Indoor Grill: Since the Smart XL Grill is essentially a more advanced model of the original Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 Indoor Grill, it makes sense to pit them against each other. Both have impressive grilling features, but the 5-in-1 is about 50 percent smallerit can fit four steaks instead of sixand it doesnt have the broil feature. The 5-in-1 also doesnt include the thermometer, which is vital to the set it and forget it feature of the Smart XL. If you want something thats effortless and doesnt require monitoring, go with the XL. If youre a steak cooking pro who doesnt need a thermometer to tell you when its ready, the 5-in-1 will probably be enough for you. The 5-in-1 also retails around $210, so you save a bit of money as well.
Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill: If you dont have access to an outdoor grill or youre just looking for a way to take grilling indoors during the colder months, the Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill is probably enough to get the job done. Grilling is its only feature, but it retails for about $65 , so the price reflects that.

Best Air Fryer Options
If you enjoy wings, have them for meal prep, or are cooking for more than 1 person, I recommend that you choose an air fryer with at least 5 qt of cooking space.
My preferred air fryer is actually a multi-cooker and Ive used it on the site to make so many Ninja Foodi recipes.
Ill admit this air fryer is a bit more expensive than some others. But, as I mentioned in my Ninja Foodi review, this machine replaces so many appliances and crisps like no other that it is worth the extra cost.

Performance: Worth The Hype
Even after developing over 1,000 recipes, cooking steaks still feels intimidating, so the thought of being able to pull off a perfectly cooked steak with basically the push of a button sounded really exciting. But after testing and owning dozens of kitchen appliances that fall way short on their promises, I was skeptical, to say the least.
Nevertheless, I put the Ninja Foodi to the ultimate grill testgrass-fed filets. Filets naturally have less fat than other cuts, and grass-fed filets have even less fat, so its really important not to overcook them if you want a good flavor.
During the five minutes it took to preheat the grill, I rubbed the filets in avocado oilone of the high-heat oils recommended by the manufacturerand sprinkled them with sea salt and crushed black pepper. Once the grill was preheated, it beeped and flashed an add food alert on-screen, signaling that it was time to add the steaks. I inserted the thermometer into the thickest part of one of the steaks, laid them on the grill pan, and chose the rare option in the beef preset function.
When I finally cut into the steak, I was wowed by how perfectly rare it was, and I’m not easily impressed. Ive tried to pull this off with other grills and meat thermometers but was never as successful as I was with the Ninja Foodi.

The Smart Xl Grill Cyclonic Grilling Technology Has Several Features
The Foodis high heat is that it mimics the cooking results of a traditional grill. A top-down heat source produces temperatures of up to 500 degrees. An electric fan pushes hot air around the food to cook it quickly and evenly with grill-like results Ninja calls this combination its Cyclonic Grilling Technology.
Furthermore, the grill also features a smoke control system that results in a considerably lower level of smoke in your kitchen when cooking at high temperatures. A metal mesh screen snaps over the mesh to contain grease splatter and reduce smoke.
The control panel has intuitive, one-touch buttons to power the unit on and off, select your cooking function and set cooking time and temperature anywhere from 105 to 500 degrees. When grilling, you can choose between four preset temperatures: low, medium, high, and max. A cooking guide is included to help you select the best settings for whatever youre grilling, which I used to base all my cooking times and temperatures.

This version of the Foodi indoor grill has six main cooking featuresgrill, air fry, roast, dehydrate, broil, and bakeand, unlike the smaller version, it includes a meat thermometer that allows you to choose from several preset meat options. Instead of manually monitoring the temperature, you can set the grill to beef or pork and then choose from a range of internal cooking temperatures, from rare to well. While the whole appliance is impressive, the smart thermometer was my favorite feature by far.
