Difficult To Choose The Right Air Fryer For You
Which air fryer should I buy? I get this question a lot. And nowadays the range of available air fryers is quite extensive. So most people get pretty overwhelmed with all the options and dont know what air fryer is best for their situation. People are also confused about the fact that some air fryers are very cheap, while others are expensive, like Philips Airfryers. How can you justify the high price, when you can also buy a much cheaper one.
I think this problem that people have is one of the reasons why I started this blog. Originally I started a blog about air fryers back in 2015, but this is a Dutch blog since I am from The Netherlands. But because I also got a lot of questions from people all over the world, I decided to start this international website about air fryers to help you and other people all over the world.

Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer Upshot: 2 Baskets Are Better Than One
Again, this Ninja Foodi is more than just an air fryer. If you’re looking to dehydrate fruits for a good trail mix or reheat leftover fries, there are settings just for that. You can also roast chicken without heating up your home with the oven . And the temperature goes up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and you can set the timer for up to an hour at a time. Most air fryers only have timers for up to 25 minutes.
But here’s the thing: Depending on what you’re cooking or heating, you may be able to do two of these things at once. That’s because while most air fryers come with one basket, Ninja’s dual air fryer has two. That means you can cook two foods with completely different settings at the same time. You can roast a chicken in one basket while air-frying potatoes in another. Being able to cook almost an entire whole dinner with one gadget is a game-changer for my family.
Remember this summer’s air-fried pasta chips? You can make them in a snap.

Match Cook Gives You More Space
You’ve probably heard about the deliciousness of air fryer chicken wings. They’re the perfect wing that’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The only problem is that wings can take up a good amount of space in your air fryer. The best solution I found was using my Ninja Foodie’s Match Cook setting as a way to spread out my food in the baskets for even cooking without cramming. Here’s how it works.
If you’re ever curious about what settings to use when cooking, Ninja includes two stickers on the air fryer to give you recommended times and temperatures for poultry and vegetables when using Smart Finish and Match Cook. These air fryer recipes can help, too.
Air Fryers Have Longer Cooking Times Compared To Conventional Deep Fryer
Frying food with air takes a bit longer than frying food with oil in a traditional frying pan. Both type of frying pans need to be preheated and I think an air fryer does this the quickest. Once the machine is on its set temperature the deep fryer wins when frying french fries for instance. Fries take up around 20 minutes in an air fryer, while a deep fryer can do the job in around 10 minutes.
The time it takes to fry your food in an air fryer really depends on the brand and type of air fryer. From my experience cheaper and lower quality air fryers do require more time to cook food in comparison with higher quality air fryers from Philips. For the fastest results you need a powerful air fryer that reaches its temperature quick and also stays on its set temperature. From my experience I see that some air fryers cant stay on their set temperature properly. This means that the air fryers loses heat during air frying which results in longer baking times.

Burnt Dried And Failed Air Fryer Dishes
Air frying your food is trial and error. Especially in the beginning. One of the most asked questions I receive is how to use an air fryer for the first time and how to make crispy french fries. On the internet and in air fryer recipe books you can find a lot of information about how to set your air fryer for a particular dish or recipe. But there are a lot of air fryers from different manufacturers, this means that every air fryers prepares food a bit differently compared to the other.
So, it might happen that your dish gets burned, gets dried out or just fails. I also experience this when trying out things in my air fryer. I am always experimenting with my air fryer. I am just curious to know what happens inside the air fryer when frying different types of vegetables, fruits and meat for instance.
Once I tried to dry fruits, such as slices of banana, mango and strawberries. The first time I tried it, I used my Philips Airfryer XXL and the standard frying basket with the mesh bottom. Well, the strawberries became very soft and got stuck between the mesh bottom of the basket.
Last example was that I wanted to grill some mozzarella slices. So I put the slices inside the air fryer, turned it on and came back a few minutes later. I was expecting grilled cheese slices, but in reality I made a grilled cheese frying basket. All the cheese got stuck between the meshed pattern of the frying basket and this was a daunted task to clean afterwards.
How To Clean An Air Fryer
Air fryers are incredibly convenient. The process isnt messy as the device uses little oil, and the cooking basket is enclosed to prevent splattering. But like all appliances. It needs proper cleaning and maintenance to ensure optimal effectiveness for years to come.
So, there is a need to clean it after every use. And this makes cleaning simple as you wont have to deal with stubborn, hard-to-clean crusts of food. To ensure appropriate, preservative cleaning, weve laid out the steps on how to clean your air fryer like a pro.
The Easiest Way to Clean Air Fryers
What Youll Need
- Soft bristle toothbrush or brush
The first step in cleaning your countertop convection oven is, of course, to turn the air fryer off, unplug, and let it cool. This safety precaution reduces the likelihood of fires or electrocution. Once unplugged from the wall socket or extension cord, wait about 30 minutes for it to cool. Removing the basket and pan causes the primary unit to lose heat faster.
Use a damp cotton or microfiber cloth to wipe down the sides of the appliance. Next, turn the countertop fryer upside-down. Continue by wiping down the heating element.
Use hot water and a non-abrasive sponge to wipe down the inside. If hardened food residue doesnt come off the primary unit, make a baking soda paste with water and scrub with a non-abrasive sponge or soft brush. Then wipe it off with a cotton or microfiber cloth.

For a reliable and attractive option, we recommend the Philips Air Fryer Viva TurboStar. Philips isn’t as well known as Cuisinart or Breville, but they were one of the first manufacturers to bring air fryers into home kitchens.
The TurboStar has four preset functions for cooking popular meals , dishwasher safe parts, and a keep-warm function that makes sure your food remains warm and ready to serve while you finish other aspects of the meal. The digital display makes it easy to see the settings that are all controlled with a simple knob.
The proprietary TurboStar technology is also designed to cook foods evenly so you wont have to stop cooking to shake the basket of fries for the perfect poutine. Our reviewer cooked french fries, chicken tenders, and apple chips and everything came out exactly as expected. To make cooking even easier, theres a downloadable app that has 200 recipes designed for the air fryer.
“The air fryers 1425 watts of power proved plenty strong enough and everything cooked evenly the fries were nice and crisp, the chicken still moist, and the apple chips were uniformly toasted.” Lindsay Boyers, Product Tester

Multifunction Air Fryer Buying Guide
When you decide to buy an all-in-one air fryer, you should also consider the capabilities of the air fryer. Typically, this type of air fryer is used as an alternative to multiple cooking equipment. Thus, in this case, a large-capacity air fryer is more effective than the smaller one. In addition, a large-capacity air fryer can cook a lot of food compared to a small air fryer. If you have a large family, you should take a big air fryer. We think that any multifunction air fryer should have a minimum of 10-quart capacity. Because, multifunction air fryers are used for various cooking purposes, so large air fryers are more effective in all these cases. Moreover, a large air fryer uses electricity efficiently and cooks quickly.
Power consumption is another issue that should be considered when buying a multifunction air fryer. Most versatile air fryers use power between 1500 watts and 1800 watts. High wattage air fryers cook faster than low wattage air fryers. However, higher wattage air fryers use more electricity than lower wattage. So, you should consider which one you need. If you like to cook very fast, you should take a high wattage air fryer. If you want to reduce the electricity bill, you should take a low wattage air fryer.

Best Countertop Convection Ovens
Most air fryer ovens are convection-powered toaster ovens, meaning that fans circulate the heat evenly throughout the cooking chamber. This allows the food to cook more quickly and evenly than it does in a traditional oven.
These straightforward, toaster-oven-style air fryers use convection heat to evenly cook and crisp food on all sides.
Air Fryers Can Smoke And Smell
Just like with cooking with a normal pan, an air fryer can produce smoke and nasty odors when something gets burned or gets over cooked. The first time your air fryer starts smoking it can be a bit stressful. That is because it looks a bit like your air fryer is on fire from the inside. But dont be afraid, it is completely normal that an air fryer starts smoking. Luckily it this doesnt happen a lot, it only occurs with certain types of food.
I experience a smoking air fryer when I air fryer meat or other food with a lot of fat in it. Think about burgers or bacon. This fat melts during the process of air fryer and the fat gets splattered around inside the frying basket because of the circulating air. This small drops of fat and oil can splat against the heating element, which is red hot. When this happens the fat burns and produces the nasty smelling smoke.
A smoking air fryer can also occur when an ingredient touches the heating element. Once I wanted to make my own crisps with thin slices of potato. Because these slices are so thin and light, they were blown around because of the circulating air. The ventilator above the heating element sucked the slices against the element, so they got scorched. This also ended up with a smoking air fryer.
