Is The Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer Easy To Use
Yes, its very self explanatory and easy to use. Included is their very helpful starter guide and cooking time tables to walk you through the basic steps to cooking your first meal. The smart guides are also helpful to make it less intimidating when cooking. Dont let the size food you, as its quite large compared to other smaller air-fryer-only devices. But if you have the kitchen counter top space, youll find that youll be using the features more than you think. The Time and Temp buttons are separate, which is nice. Its very clear to see and implement time and temp separately. Some air fryer use the same buttons and you have to toggle back and forth between time and temp. Having them separate is helpful. The hot circulating air is very powerful too so youll get food crispy, quick.
Instant Vortex 10 Quart Oven Air Fryer
The Instant Pot Vortex Pro 10 Qt Oven Air Fryer shares the Vortex name with the 6 quart Instant Vortex Air Fryer but it couldnt be more different. Its an oven style air fryer with lots of fun attachments.
Included with the air fryer oven is a drip tray, two cooking trays, rotisserie basket, rotisserie fork/spit, and a rotisserie lift.
The Vortex Oven has Smart Programs that are adjustable. The Manual has good instructions showing how to use the attachments. Its important to read about the weight and size restrictions when using the rotisserie basket and spit.
One of the things I was most excited to try in the Vortex Air Fryer Oven was a rotisserie chicken. Most of the chickens at my grocery store were too big for the rotisserie spit The organic chickens at Costco were just barely small enough, so I bought a two-pack.
I put an herb butter underneath the skin, and the chicken turned out moist and delicious with a gorgeous crisp and golden skin. The flavor was better than the rotisserie chicken I buy at Costco, but clean up was time-consuming and it cost about twice as much as a ready to eat rotisserie Costco chicken.
I bought some frozen potato wedges to eat with our rotisserie chicken and use the rotisserie basket to cook them. The basket works great and its fun to watch the food cook through the glass door in the air fryer oven.
However, the basket is a little bit difficult to clean and you have to use the rotisserie lift to remove the basket from the oven.

While its very similar to the 4-in-1 air fryer, the standout feature in the Vortex Plus is the dehydrator. If youre looking for a reliable air fryer that can also produce perfectly dried fruits and veggies, the Vortex Plus is for you. Just like the 4-in-1, the Vortex Plus has a roomy, 6-quart basket with a nonstick coating for easy cleanup. Equipped with pre-programmed settings and a temperature-controlling dial, the interface is also super user-friendly. The only downside to this model is the broiler function, which is pre-set to 400 degrees F and for two minutes and didnt perform well for us in testing.

These sweet potato chips looked so perfect but honestly, the texture did not match. I think I didnt leave them long enough to reach their full potential. Mine tasted dehydrated but they were not crispy like a chip.
I personally think purchasing store versions would be easier, cheaper and tastier. But I do understanding how the satisfaction of knowing what is in your foods and going into your body would be invaluable. Dehydrated cinnamon apple chips or teriyaki beef jerky would be amazing to try.

Air Fryer Sausage Balls
This time I tested out the baking function instead at 350 F for 10 min for super easy, party-friendly, 3-ingredient sausage balls. Its shredded sharp cheddar cheese, ground sausage and a box of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix.
The air fryer was 5 minutes faster than baking in a traditional oven, with better, even coloring. The oven always has one flat dark side no matter if you rotate or turn them.
One great advantage of baking in this machine instead of the traditional big oven is keeping that heat all contained. Thats the main reason the Instant Pot is so wonderful on hot summer days. So this air fryer follows the same standard of cutting energy cost and heat. I can also see this as a nice addition when your kitchen oven is already cooking other dishes for dinner, you need to bake a cake. Just bake the cake in the air fryer. Its more gentle on baked desserts anyway.

Air Fried Breakfast Potatoes
These yellow baby potatoes were so good! I air-fried at 400 F for 10 min. My first batch I tried with bacon on top to get the flavor of bacon grease drippings. Dont do this, there was no flavor, just grease.
The next time I drizzled with a tiny bit of olive oil, then seasoned it with garlic, salt, thyme, basil, and oregano. I filled up 2 trays and made sure to switch trays and move the potatoes around for even crispness.
You do have to each immediately because if you leave sitting they lose that crispy crunch. These are perfect for breakfast with a sunny side up egg.

The Instant Vortex 6 Quart Air Fryer and the Instant Pot Vortex 10 Qt Oven Air Fryer are both great products. It can be hard to decide which one is right for you.
I preferred the lightweight, easy cleanup, and simple design of the Instant Vortex 6 Quart Air Fryer. In fact, I liked it so much I bought a second one to keep in my RV.
The Instant Vortex Air Fryer Oven has lots of great features. Its nice to have the glass oven door so you can see the cooking progress. It is more versatile, but I found myself not using it much and put it in my pantry and dont use it much.

Instant Pot Duo Crisp Air Fryer

Another factor in my decision was that it has a smaller footprint than a full size air fryer toaster oven, so it fits perfectly on my countertop, and looks great, too!

Air Fried Pork Ribs Test In The Vortex Plus
We tested some air fryer pork ribs with bbq sauce and it was a winner! This is a powerful air fryer and cooked the ribs perfectly. It was large enough to cook two trays of ribs. We just needed to rotate the racks to get all the ribs cooked evenly. The results were awesome ribs with the perfect bite.

- Its large, so if you have a very small kitchen itll be a dominating appliance. But because theres so many features on it, you might not need to have other appliances and the Vortex might be your go-to source for cooking.
- Because its an oven, theres several racks you can cook on. So that means the top rack will be closer to the hot circulating heating element. If youre cooking the same food on all 3 racks, youll have to rotate more often to get the food to cook evenly. Thats the case for all oven-style air fryers. Just be aware of that if youre looking to make your first purchase an oven-style model.
- They dont have a book with recipes, which could be helpful to inspire users to familiarize themselves with the device. But thats ok cause we come to the rescue! We have tons of air fryer recipes here to get you started.
