Ive been testing recipes for this and currently, I have successfully tested this teriyaki tofu and broccoli bowl for the air fryer.
I did everything the instructions say to do for the tofu in the recipe but instead of pan frying it, I put it into the basket of the air fryer and did 10 minutes at 400 degrees.

What You Should Know Before Buying The Air Fryer Lid By Instant Pot
The Air Fryer Lid is a standalone Instant Pot accessory. It does NOT come with a pressure cooker and cannot be used alone.
Dont fill too full. You cannot use the Air Fryer Lid if your cooking pot is above the Max Fill line.
The cord is short, so youll have to have an outlet that is easily accessible. Its about the same length as the cord on the Instant Pot itself, but because it sits higher above the counter, it feels a little shorter. DO NOT use the Air Fryer Lid with an extension cord.
The plug is a little weird. Youll have to unplug everything else if youre using an outlet that you share with a mixer or toaster oven. Its also pretty short.
Sometimes difficult to turn foods. When using the air fryer basket, the upper layer browns the food on top, while the lower layer browns food on the bottom. While you can turn food on the top of the tray easily, I found it difficult to remove the broil tray to turn the food on the bottom rack.
The stainless steel cooking pot the lid rests on becomes very hot after air frying. You will need to use hot pads to remove the cooking pot, and give the pot time to cool after cooking before trying to put it away.

Basically, you can use the functions of the pressure cooker to bring a chicken or vegetables to tender goodness and finish everything off with a bit of air frying. And you can do everything in one pot, only by switching lids!
So, if you like convenient appliances and enjoy the idea of a ready-to-use air fryer that can be easily stashed away, you need it.
Of course, there is also the alternative of the Instant Pot DUO Crisp, but if you already own a 6 quart Instant Pot, the Air Fryer lid makes a lot more sense.

The Air Fryer Basket Wore Out Quickly
After a few uses, I started having trouble with the air fryer basket that is included with the pot. The non-stick coating started to wear down quickly, leaving me with fries and chicken that were sticking to the bottom. How Easy Is It To Set Up
After unpacking and finding space for the Instant Pot air fryer, I knew right away that this would require some research before I was ready to start cooking. I found the Getting Started Guide to be very helpful, as I proceeded to familiarize myself with the proper setup. I definitely recommend the Initial Test Run that is detailed in the manual as it will take a first time user, like myself, some time to get used to the mechanisms for pressure cooking. This pretty much took me through the process of setting up the cooker with water. I learned how to set the timer and release the steam properly which was very worth the time I spent doing it.
It took me a while to acquaint myself with all of the parts. After about 30 minutes, I felt I was ready to move ahead, though I certainly continued to reference the manual through the process. Once I felt prepared, I moved into some simple air frying. I wanted to see if this function was enough to set this multicooker apart.

What Instant Pot Models Work With The Air Fryer Lid
The Air Fryer Lid will work with MOST 6-quart Instant Pot models. The Air Fryer lid is compatible with the Instant Pot Duo, Lux, Duo Plus, Ultra, Viva, Nova, and Nova Plus

Air Fryer Lid Vs Ninja Foodi Vs Instant Pot Duo Crisp Vs Mealthy Crisplid
We already owned a 6qt Instant Pot Ultra which doesn’t seem to be all that popular any more, but is very similar to the 6qt Instant Pot Duo Plus.
We use our Instant Pot quite a lot – for everything from cooking dried beans to making hummus, homemade yogurt, soups, chili, sous-vide steak and even full meals like salmon with smashed potatoes. It works great!
We travel full time in our RV, and our small travel trailer has a tiny oven. It works great for a single tray of roast potatoes or a pizza on a pizza stone, but I wanted a countertop air fryer so we had a bit more flexibility.
Plus, I really wanted to try my hand at dehydrating garlic to make garlic powder, and some fruits to make some healthy snacks. Our propane oven just isn’t ideal for that.
With limited storage space, a big new appliance was out of the question, unless it could replace our existing Instant Pot altogether. And that’s how I started looking at the Instant Pot Duo Crisp and Ninja Foodi.
The Duo Crisp is Instant Pot’s answer to the Ninja Foodi – a great combination pressure-cooker / air fryer that’s been around for a little while now. I read several reviews online, and both seemed to have their advantages and disadvantages. But there were three main things that I didn’t like about either of them:

Good Food Poor Design
It works great. Much better than our other air fryer. We have been pleased with the results of the food. The lid is heavy, which is great for us, but might be difficult for some. It comes with a “trivet” for the lid, which essentially doubles the amount of counter space it takes up. It would be nice to have a way to pick up the lid, flip your food, and then put the lid back down, but the design doesn’t allow for that. It is just too bulky to hold the lid while turning food. The plug takes up the entire wall outlet. I imagine this is to keep you from accidentally plugging in the Instapot AND the air fryer, but it is a bit inconvenient in a small kitchen. I wish there were imperial measurements in the instructions rather than metric only for air clearance. I also wish there were printed recipes included. Overall, it works great, but the design needs work.

Cooking Wings With The Air Fryer Function
The first thing I wanted to test with the Instant Pot Duo Crisp was its air fryer capabilities. I was already familiar with the name Instant Pot, but the air fryer seemed like new technology for this established brand in pressure cookers, and I wondered if this function was reason enough to have purchased this machine.
The true test for my family would be in its ability to cook and properly crisp chicken wings. I really did not want to try anything too complicated for my inaugural run, so I prepared them the same way I had in the past when I recently tested the Cosori Air Fryer.
First of all, I made sure to dry the wings well with paper towels. I know that dry food simply fries better, because having added moisture on the skin just causes them to steam. I took this to the next level with a dusting of baking powder, which contributes to browning through the Maillard reaction. I seasoned them well with kosher salt and garlic powder to make these wings extra tasty.
The fryer basket of this machine is round and quite deep. Unfortunately, this does not provide a very large cooking surface which is optimal for air frying.
I moved ahead, placed the hefty air fryer lid into position, and selected the air fryer function on the display.
I set the temperature to 400 degrees, the timer to 20 minutes, and waited, checking them once halfway through. At the 20 minute mark, they were definitely testing done with a probe thermometer.

The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid comes with a stainless-steel basket that fits inside the Instant Pots inner pot, a base for the basket, a tray that fits inside of the basket that is used for broiling and dehydrating, and a protective pad/storage cover. How It Performs As A Pressure Cooker
I also made one of my go-to pressure cooker recipes: pulled pork shoulder. I followed a recipe I’ve used several times in other Instant Pots: dredging the 3-pound pork shoulder in flour and spices, searing in the Instant Pot and pressure cooking for 45 minutes. The Duo Crisp turned out a near mirror image of the fork-tender pork shoulders I’ve made before in the same amount of time.
In A Nutshell: The Pros
Easy to use. It’s super simple to operate, and the interface is straightforward. It saves space. If youre like me and have several small appliances but not a huge kitchen, the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid makes sense. My Instant Pot sits on my countertop, so I leave the Air Fryer Lid on it and keep the Instant Pots standard lid in my pantry where it hardly takes up any space. The air fryers basket and tray fit inside the Instant Pot and the protective pad fits underneath it, so no extra storage space is needed for those pieces.Its easy to clean. In my experience, food didn’t stick to the basket, so it’s easy to wash. Crumbs will often fall down into the inner pot, but thats also easy to empty and wash out.
