Even though Ninja provides a cooking chart, I learned very quickly the times are off. I burned my food the first few times I cooked with the Foodi, soI recommend checking your food as it cooks until you get the hang of how long it takes to cook your favorite foods.I also recommend using a meat thermometer to make sure your meat has been cooked to a safe temperature.
One caveat to the Foodi is that once the time runs out, the unit completely turns off. So, if your food isn’t cooked, you’ll have to start from the beginning, meaning it has to preheat again. This is kind of a pain when you’re trying to get dinner on the table, soI recommend adding extra cooking time and checking your food to make sure it doesn’t burn. If you’re cooking two different foods on the same setting , add enough time to the timer to cook both foods. Since the Foodi pauses the timer every time you open the lid, you can switch from one food to the next and simply close the lid to start cooking again.
Use oils with a high heat index, like canola or avocado oil, to prevent smoking while cooking.I always toss or spray my foods directly with the oil rather than adding the oil in the air fryer to prevent smoking and burning.

We think youll be impressed by this grilljust make note of its size.
Anyone who loves grilled foods but doesnt have easy access to an outdoor grill will love this Ninja. It browns food a lot better than a broiler, and unlike pan grilling, wont fill up your house with smoke. The fact that it can also air fry is a big plus. While it also roasts, bakes, and dehydrates, we wouldnt run out and buy it for those capabilities.
You have to keep in mind that youll need a large space in your kitchen or a nearby pantry to accommodate this Foodibut for good grilling, its worth the storage.

Weve tried other air fryers that promised to sear steak, caramelize, and crisp to perfection, but they left us underwhelmed with mediocre results. Were happy to report the Ninja Foodi Grill did not disappoint.
We found it easy to start using without any need to read directions. The control panel was straightforward and, once we selected our time and temperature, the machine automatically began preheating and notified us when it was time to add the food. Preheating took 5 to 8 minutes depending on the setting.
We grilled marinated salmon filets, chicken breasts with barbeque sauce, hot dogs, and frozen salmon burgers, and we used the air fryer function to cook frozen french fries and tater tots. Our salmon had crisp skin and was caramelized on top even without flipping, the chicken looked chargrilled, and our potatoes were golden. We didnt notice a trace of smoke during cooking. The food looked pretty perfect, though well admit that the first few things we made were slightly overcooked and drybut that was more user error than a fault of the cooker.
Although we consulted the included cooking guide to help us select the time and temperature for all our foods, theres definitely a learning curve to cooking with the Foodi. The heat is extremely powerful and cooks food very quickly, so you cant really set it and forget it. We suggest starting with the lowest recommended cooking time and checking for doneness with a food thermometer to avoid overcooking.

How The Ninja Foodi Works
Once you cook with the Foodi a few times, it’s simple to use. The Foodi comes with a small recipe book and cooking charts. If you’re new to owning an air fryer, the recipe book is really helpful in giving ideas on where to start. To use the air fryer, simply place either the basket , the grill grate or a separately purchased rack in the cooking pot inside the air fryer. Click the power button to turn it on, and choose your setting. If you’re grilling, you can use the cooking chart to pick a cooking temperature, from low to max heat. The Foodi will preheat for three to 10 minutes depending on your setting, and it will beep and display “Add Food” once it’s preheated. You then open the lid, add your prepped food and close the lid. The Foodi is well-designed, and all removable parts are dishwasher safe.
The digital control panel on the grill is well designed and easy to read.
We love the fact that the grill preheats automatically, but depending on the setting, the preheat time can be over eight minutes.
In the top of the lid, theres a splatter shield that needs to be popped out after each use and cleaned. Luckily, all of the removable parts can go in the dishwasher. The interior and exterior of the machine dont get particularly dirty and are easy to wipe clean.
The Ninja Foodi grill comes with a very thorough and easy-to-understand owners guide, as well as a booklet that contains recipes and cooking charts for grilling, air frying, and dehydrating. The only things its missing are guidelines for baking and roasting.

The Ninja Foodi Health Grill & Air Fryer AG301UK is a sleek cooking machine. Measuring just 235 x 356 x 450mm, it wont take up much room on your counter but is also small enough to find space for in or on top of a cupboard if you prefer to store it out the way.
Youll need to find room to fit the accessories, as this model ships with a lot. As per the standard model, theres a large cooking pot, which has to be installed before you can cook anything.
Into this go the other accessories, each one build to provide a different type of cooking. If you want to use the air fryer mode, youll need to install the ceramic crisper basket, which simply drops into place. It provides a large surface, so you can mostly lay food flat.
