Testing The Air Fryer Lid
My test of the lid was favorable. It is very easy and intuitive to use. If browning the top of a pressure cooked dish, simply unplug your Instant Pot, plug in the air fryer lid, set it on top, and turn it on. Overall Instant air fryer lid reviews have been good.
As a stand alone air fryer, use the air fry basket, with its stand. For dehydrating, the little tray is simple to use. The air fryer basket is Teflon and the tray stainless.
The controls on the top are simple and easy to use. The unit knows when you remove the lid and will beep to let you know that the lid is off. It will resume the temperature and timing settings when placed back on.
The lid has a handle for easy removing.
The stand for the hot lid is great. Keep it close by when using the lid!
My only issue with the lid is its size which, of course, is constrained by the size of the Instant Pot. When using the lid with the basket for stand alone air frying, there is not a lot of space. With that said, you could still do a fair amount of items such as french fries, vegetables, or wings in it. Really just as much as most basket air fryers.

I made some stand alone Instant Pot air fryer shrimp and vegetables using the air fryer lid. Everything worked easily and came out fine.
Cleanup was simple. I simply put the basket and the pot in the dish washer.
It Cooks Quicker Than An Oven But Not As Fast As An Air Fryer
Ive found that when cooking air fryer recipes in the Duo Crisp, youll need to add a few minutes to the cook time. For example, the average air fryer recipe calls for cooking fries at 380°F for about 15 minutes, but I find that in the Instant Pot they need about 20 minutes. However, they still produce a crispier and faster result than the oven, which takes about 40 minutes!
Kalorik Digital Touch Screen Air Fryer
Walmart’s holiday deals include a five-star-rated air fryer for just $49. The Kalorik air fryer features seven preset functions. According to the brand, this eight-quart kitchen gadget can fit up to two pounds of fries, four chicken breasts, 16 chicken wings, four salmon filets or an eight-inch cake.
The device includes a removable, dishwasher-safe trivet and basket.
“What I really like is the touch screen panel which is very easy to use and self-explanatory,” wrote a Walmart customer. “The display is bright and the touch screen buttons are responsive. How It Performs As An Air Fryer
I cooked several of my favorite air fryer foods with the Duo Crisp and its Ultimate Lid. The air fryer was plenty proficient once it got heated. Speaking of which, this is one of the only air fryers I’ve used that needed an official preheat time. For an air frying session at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, it took about five minutes to preheat plus the actual cook time. I’m used to air fryers that don’t need preheating, so it took getting used to.
What Are The Cons Of The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid
- The temperature doesnt go higher than 400 degrees. I guess I dont know why Id want it to go higher but I would have liked at least up to 450 degrees.
- Its big and bulky BUT it is far better than having another machine.
- Since the air fryer basket goes into the stainless steel Instant Pot insert, you have to wash both when youre done cooking.

While we did like that the Mealthy CrispLid is designed with a glass lid so you can see into the pot, the surface got too hot to touch, where the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid gets warm, but not too hot to touch. The Mealthy CrispLid comes with an elevated trivet and basket that allows the food to sit higher in the pot, which is nice because you don’t have to reach into a hot basket to remove the food. That said, this problem is resolved in the deeper Instant Pot air fryer basket by using a set of tongs.

Who Should Buy The Duo Crisp With Ultimate Lid
The Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid is a good choice for someone who uses a multicooker often but also wants to air fry on occasion. I stress often because if you tend to use an air fryer far more than an Instant Pot, pressure cooker or multicooker, this model is far bulkier and heavier than most solo air fryers.
I personally air fry far more than I use a multicooker so I’m happy with my small and light 2.6-quart Magic Bullet air fryer and its nonstick basket. I leave it on my counter most times, whereas my multicooker is stored in a closet until I’m ready to use it.
The Instant Pot Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid is bulkier than most air fryers and it also requires more cleanup after an air frying session than I’m used to. It also takes about five minutes to preheat, while most other air fryers don’t need preheat time at all. That said, once it was ready to cook, this machine air-fried, broiled and roasted with the best of ’em.
I liked the new Duo Crisp fine, but the originalDuo Crisp without the built-in air fryer lid can be had for about $130. For my money, that’s the better pick if you’re looking for a machine that does it all. What Are Some Downsides To The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid
The biggest downside to the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid is the capacity. The air frying basket is pretty small. If you think about how narrow a six-quart Instant Pots inner pot is, you may get an idea of the air fryers capacity. The air fryer basket measures roughly 7.5 inches in diameter, and air frying works best when you arrange your ingredients in a single layer. The lid may have been better if it came with the 8-quart Instant Pot models, rather than the 6-quart.
Another small hiccup we experienced with the air fryer basket was with the handles, which are also way too small. The tiny handles make the air fryer basket difficult to lift up out of the inner pot after you air fry a batch of food.
Larger Air Frying Capacity Than The Original Duo Crisp
The biggest draw of this model over the brand’s initial hybrid air fryer model is more cooking capacity. With the air fryer rack in place, you can fit three medium chicken breasts and four chicken thighs in the cooking chamber . The original model required a separate, smaller basket insert that had enough for only three chicken thighs or two medium breasts.
The air-frying rack easily holds two large chicken breasts or three medium ones.
