What Can You Cook In An Air Fryer
You can put pretty much anything in an air fryer, from vegetables to your protein. All, without oil. You can also use an air fryer to heat your frozen pre-made food like dumplings, chicken wings, falafel, egg rolls, pizza bites, quiche, and much more. The possibilities are endless.
Some of my favorite things that I enjoy making with my air fryer include kale chips, french fries, chicken fingers, toothpick lamb with cumin, steak, and salmon.
Air Fryer French Fries
These air fryer french fries are the reason I bought an air fryer in the first place. I used frozen french fries for this side by side comparison. I typically air fry french fries anywhere from 8-12 minutes depending on the type of fries and how thick cut they are.
Amount: .75 lbs of frozen shoestring french fries.
Preheat: Both the basket and the oven were preheated at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. Then each was cooked at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until desired crispiness.
- Basket: The basket took 8 minutes to cook until desired crispiness.
- Oven: The oven took 13 minutes to cook until the desired crispiness.
- Winner: The basket, by a littleas it cooked a few minutes faster.
How To Properly Season Air Fryer Basket To Prevent Sticking
This article on How to Properly Season Air Fryer Basket to Prevent Sticking, will help teach you how to prevent most sticking issues.
How to Properly Season Air Fryer Basket to Prevent Sticking
The latest kitchen appliance to become super popular is the Air Fryer. We can all have our favorite deep fried foods without actually deep frying and without using oil. Wrong!
An Air Fryer does not take the place of a deep fat fryer, but it does allow us to have many of our favorite fried foods without deep frying and without tons of oil. However, oil is still needed in an Air Fryer.
Cast of Tools for Properly Season Air Fryer Basket to Prevent Sticking
Most of the Air Fryer on the market have a non-stick coating. Unfortunately, that coating is definitely not non-stick. In order to help keep your food from sticking to the Air Fryer basket, it is important to season your Air Fryer before cooking and/or after cleaning. You will only need Coconut Oil and a piece of Paper Towel. Please do not use aerosol sprays like Pam, as that will only build up grease and cause more peeling.
Wash and Dry your Air Fryer
Place the basket inside the drawer and place it into your Air Fryer. Turn the temperature to 400 degrees and set the timer for 5 minutes. Remove the drawer after three minutes.

Are Stainless Steel Baskets Durable
These baskets are the most durable baskets you can possibly get for your air fryer. Stainless steel is tarnishing, rust, and stain-resistant which means they will stay in great shape for many years to come. These baskets are also resistant to impacts. You can drop them at a great height without risk of damaging your basket. This metal is also scratch-resistant. You can use any type of cutlery you like in your basket without any risk of damaging the surface of your basket.
Be Careful With Nonstick
Consumers have complained on our website and elsewhere that the nonstick coating on some air fryer components flakes off over time. We havent seen this , but our advice regarding other nonstick cookware holds true here, too: Do not use metal utensils, steel wool, or any other abrasives, because they can scratch or chip the nonstick coating.
And if the nonstick coating is flaking, dont use the air fryer. Instead, call the manufacturers customer service and ask for a new basket, or try to return the air fryer to the retailer.

Boil out fryer cleaner is a fryer cleaner that is great for cleaning and removing oils, fats, carbon, rust, etc. from your air fryer. It is an air fryer cleaner designed for deep cleaning purposes. Air Fryer Basket Vs Air Fryer Toaster Oven Side By Side
Sharing is caring!
Many people have either an air fryer basket or an air fryer toaster oven and wonder how they can convert recipes created for the basket to the oven. This blog post will provide you with a step by step breakdown of cooking in the basket vs the air fryer toaster oven.
As a collector of air fryersreally, I couldnt stop myself from buying shiny new models, I found myself wondering what the difference was between the air fryer basket and the air fryer oven. The obvious difference is that one is larger than the other . Another difference was that baskets provided a nice little handle that allowed me to shake my food. But what about the actual food? Did they produce different results?
I took some time to take notes on how 3 of my popular recipes did in each machine. I chose to make and take note of the following recipes:
Things you should know beforehand:
All air fryer brands are not created the same, so the two I used could have different results than the ones you may have at home. However, your cook times shouldnt be much different than mine.
For the first round of the air fryer basket vs air fryer toaster oven, lets start with frozen french fries

How Do You Use An Air Fryer Without Basket
The key factor to using an air fryer without the basket is to ensure there is proper airflow. Using utensils that allow easy airflow on the basis of cooking without the air fryer basket.
An ideal way to use an air fryer without the basket is to buy several metal wire racks. These racks allow you to fit other accessories on the rack instead of the air fryer bottom.
Wire racks have less surface area therefore more room for cooling and airflow.
Is It Safe To Use An Air Fryer Without The Basket
Please bear in mind that this advice is for the bucket style air fryers. These are the air fryers that typically have a basket as standard to hold your food in.
As stated above, it is safe to use your air fryer without its standard cooking basket, but for your food to still cook well, you should be aware of one important thing.
That important thing is air flow. The whole reason an air fryer works and cooks food well, is because of the way it can circulate hot air around the air fryers compartment. If you stop or hinder that air flow, you will find that your air fryers performance will be greatly reduced, probably to the point of being unusable.
This is why the standard air fryer cooking basket is elevated off of the bottom of the air fryer. In fact, if you look at the basket when it is positioned inside the air fryer, you will see that there is still space on every side of the basket.
So, whatever you use instead of the basket, you need to keep the air flow of your air fryer in mind.

Air Fryer Oven Steak Cage
The last air fryer accessory we want to mention in todayâs article is the oven steak cage. This is a product that is perfect when you want to air fry steak, fish or chicken. This steak cage will adjust to the thickness of the meat you are cooking and you will easily be able to insert it into your oven rotisserie. The meat of fish you are preparing with it will be crispy on the outside, while still being tender and moist on the inside and it is a very useful part of every air fryer oven.
Substitutes For The Air Fryer Basket
You can use other accessories for cooking in an air fryer for different recipes which dont require an air fryer basket. Air frying requires sufficient airflow for even cooking and therefore, the alternatives you choose instead of air fryer baskets should have enough room for airflow.
Some of the common alternatives to air fryer basket are
- Circular pie pan or cake pan
- Springform Pan

Are Stainless Steel Baskets Dishwasher Safe
Yes, they are dishwasher safe. Dishwashers use very hot water to clean, and the durability of stainless steel ensures they do not disintegrate or get damaged because of that.
This gives stainless steel baskets an edge over Teflon-coated nonstick baskets, as nonstick baskets may not be able to withstand the heat of the water used in a dishwasher.
You can, however, also wash your stainless steel basket in the sink. This metal is scratch and chemical resistant and is unlikely to be altered no matter how many cleaning products you use. It is an ideal basket if you want something that is tough enough to handle everyday use and everyday scrubbing.
The Pros To Getting A Small Pod
Over the past few years, weve received some strongly worded feedback about our decision not to recommend a pod-shaped air fryer in this guide. Though we stand behind this decision for the reasons outlined above, we do understand that there are a couple of reasons why someone may prefer getting a small, pod-shaped air fryer over a larger toaster oven. The most obvious reason is lack of space: The pod-shaped models hog less room on a kitchen counter. Smaller households that plan to make only one or two portions of food at a time may also find a larger machine to be superfluous.
If a pod-shaped air fryer is conducive to your space and lifestyle, by all means get one. The Philips Premium Airfryer HD9741/96 is the best pod-shaped model weve tested. It performed exactly the same as the model we used to recommend, the now-discontinued Philips Avance Collection Airfryer HD9641/96. Little has changed between the two models, according to the Philips representative we spoke tothe company made slight upgrades to the internal components, and the icon on the cooking presets button has a new symbol.
Like its predecessor, the Philips Premium has a small footprint and an easy-to-use interface. When filled to capacity, it also cooked food more evenly than other models of the same style, though we still discovered a handful of underdone fries and some soggy patches on fish sticks and chicken fingers. It does, however, maintain its internal temperature well.

You Dont Need An Air Fryer You Already Own Something Better
Convection toaster ovens can do everything air fryers can doand more.
We found that pod-shaped air fryers often had more-powerful fans, but this wasnt necessarily a good thing, since they could produce dried-out foods and overcooked cakes. And the fryer baskets in pod-shaped models were too limited. Even filled to capacity, they could fit only a couple of servings of food at a time, which isnt practical for larger households. In general, we found that pod-shaped air fryers didnt cook as evenly as the toaster-oven models because their cramped interiors didnt allow heat to fully circulate around the food, even when we shook the basket periodically.
Air Fryer Deep Cleaning With Vinegar
Depending on how stubborn baked-on grease you got there, the above steps may not be enough.
To make sure it lasts longer and provides services as it is supposed to, you may need to give it a thorough cleaning.
So, you must bring the ultimate cleaning tools: vinegar! You can apply this method on any electric air fryer like Nuwave Bravo or Emeril Lagasse air fryer. Follow the steps as mentioned below:
To wipe all the grease from the fryer at the beginning step, use a paper towel. That will make the subsequent deep cleaning a lot easier.
Make a solution of water and vinegar where water should be 90% and 10% vinegar. You can use your tub or sink to give your fryer a bath to the solution.
Keep it submerged under the solution for at least 15 minutes.
After waiting for 15 minutes, start scrubbing the fryer with a non-abrasive sponge. Use a good quality dish soap for a better result.
You should keep scrubbing until all the grease is completely gone away.
The vinegar should take care of it. But it doesnt, you can use some baking soda with the sponge to scrub. That should take care of the stubborn spots for sure!
You have done a great job giving your fryer a deep clean. Now, completely dry it out. The better way to dry it is air drying.
How Often Should I Clean The Air Fryer?
But if you avoid a simple wipe down, the grease will get hard. There will be layers of buildup.

Uten 1088ts Air Fryer Is Perfect In Quality
cReview-Most of us today try to be a little more health conscious. Eating healthier usually means giving up fried foods. But, they are oh, so delicious! Frying fried foods in the air helps to make them healthier by significantly reducing the oil or fat used for frying and, in some covers, eliminating it. OK-no one says that air frying turns Tots into healthy foods, but if it can cut the calories and fat of a dead person and still gives results that look like dropping a basket of them in hot oil, whats not to like?
What is it?
The Uten air fryer is essentially a convection oven on steroids. It circulates super-hot air continuously, allowing food to cook quickly. If there is a thin film of oil on the food, this oil boils and creates a crispy surface, similar to frying.
Whats in the box?
Design and functions
The Fryer is quite stylish. It is covered with glossy plastic, full black, Impact resistant.
The four buttons at the bottom of the screen are a Pause/Play button, a Power/Start button, a Presets button and a Shake Timer button. The two Up/Down arrows on the left and right adjust the temperature and the time .
The rest of the display is exactly that, display. Pressing the Preset button will take you through the eight presets: fries, meat, shrimp, cake, Pizza, Fish, Steak and chicken. The selected preset flashes.
The power cord is attached to the back. Unfortunately, there is no onboard memory for the cable and it just hangs on the back.
When Cooking Certain Foods That Require Additional Utensils
People who want to use the air fryer to prepare certain foods that do not require frying can choose to use other accessories other than the basket.
For example, people interested in making pizzas or cupcakes will have to use other accessories since the basket cannot be used for such tasks.
In this case, replace the basket with molds or pizza pans paying attention to the airflow to make sure that the air flows perfectly well.

Other Air Fryer Accessories
The list above doesnt really cover all of the accessories that can be used in an air fryer but it does cover most of them. Here are the additional accessories that I think you should have if you use the air fryer on a daily basis.
Ramekin: A fine porcelain dish that is used to serve single portions of food, usually soup, cakes, gratins, and more. The ramekin is a petit accessory that doesnt provide enough space for two but for a single individual, the ramekin is a perfect complement to the basket. They come in many different sizes but for air fryer users, the 32 ounce
Double-Layer Cooking Rack: I hope youll love these just as much as my family does they allow us to prepare food for the entire family at once. The double-layered cooking rack gives you the advantage of more space, making it possible for you to prepare twice the amount of food in one round. The extra cooking space is provided by an extra level of skewers, perfect for placing hamburgers, chicken or other meats that shouldnt be in contact while cooking.
As an added bonus, here are a couple more accessories. While they dont replace the basket in any way, they provide convenient solutions when cooking with the air fryer.
How To Deal With Lingering Odors
When a food gives off a strong smell while cooking, the odor may linger in your air fryer, even after cleaning. NewAir, maker of Magic Chef air fryers, recommends soaking the food basket and drawer in soapy water for 30 to 60 minutes before cleaning again. If the smell persists, cut a lemon in half and rub it over the basket and drawer, let it sit 30 minutes, then rewash.
