There are many air fryer options out there, but this one is my favorite.
My search for the perfect air fryer has come to an end.
Making a decision on what type of air fryer you should buy can be challenging with so many options to choose from. But I can help you decide thanks to my long and, at times, bumpy history with them. I love the idea of a kitchen appliance that circulates hot air to cook food nice and crisp in a matter of minutes without the oil needed for deep frying. But I had one problem. While most of the countertop appliances work the same, every air fryer I bought somehow managed to let me down, except for one: the Ninja Foodi 8-quart, 4-in-1 Dual Zone Air Fryer. And it’s worth every penny.
My fiancé and I started out with a $50 Dash Compact Air Fryer that was perfect for small spaces, but it didn’t hold enough food to have leftovers. I used a Bella air fryer next, and it didn’t have the settings we needed for our cooking preferences. We later upgraded to a Chefman air fryer that’s no longer available. Despite cleaning it the right way, the grill plate clips came off and the finish started to peel. We knew it was time for an upgrade that would last.
Update: While this story describes the author’s experience with the $139 8-quart, 4-in-1 Ninja Foodi, we’re linking the newer, $130 8-quart, 6-in-1 model. It’s a similar but updated model that is widely discounted this holiday season.
Match Cook Gives You More Space
You’ve probably heard about the deliciousness of air fryer chicken wings. They’re the perfect wing that’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The only problem is that wings can take up a good amount of space in your air fryer. The best solution I found was using my Ninja Foodie’s Match Cook setting as a way to spread out my food in the baskets for even cooking without cramming. Here’s how it works:
1. To start, press Match Cook. Both numbers 1 and 2 will light up.
2. Choose your cooking preference, Air fry, Roast, Reheat or Dehydrate.
3. Select the time and temperature.
4. Press Start/Pause.
If you’re ever curious about what settings to use when cooking, Ninja includes two stickers on the air fryer to give you recommended times and temperatures for poultry and vegetables when using Smart Finish and Match Cook. These air fryer recipes can help, too.
What We Didnt Like
One little thing we didnt like was that the shiny accents around the top and on the handles are plastic instead of real metal. The Ninja Grill used real stainless steel, but the Dual is all plastic.
We also had a problem with the pans leaking water when we left them to soak after an especially messy meal. We found that the screws inside of the pan were loose, and this allowed water to seep through. After tightening the screws, this seemed to solve the problem, but it is something to watch out for.
In our baking test, we found that none of our Amazon accessories would fit in the Ninja Duals smaller baskets. This means you wont be able to cook frozen pizzas or use standard accessories in your Ninja. We worked around this by using smaller pans that we had lying around .
Since this has two baskets, we tested the temperature of each and found that basket 2 was actually getting hotter than basket 1. In a side by side baking test, we set the air fryers to 200°C, and basket 1 was at about 180°, while basket 2 was just above 200°. This didnt make a huge difference in our cooking tests, but it was noticeable.

When it comes to functionality, the Ninja Foodi really cant be beat. It has DualZone technology that allows cooks to prepare two entirely separate meals, or separate components of the same meal. And best of all, you can program the machine to finish both baskets at the same time.
That means you can roast an entire chicken in one basket and air-fry crisp asparagus or frozen french fries in the other. Look up the times in the included recipe booklet, quickly program the device, and the appliance will make sure that both sides finish at the same time. Not only can you walk away from the kitchen and let your air fryer do the work, but you can also rest assured that a hot meal will come together like magic.

Should You Buy The Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer
I seriously recommend the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer to anyone who wants to expand their air frying repertoire. It makes life so much more streamlined, and the Dual Zone is a real game-changer. The machine is bulky, but even with my tiny kitchen I would definitely find a place for it – it’s weighty, but this is outweighed by the convenience of being able to cook all elements of a meal in one go. It definitely left my oven and microwave feeling very neglected.
Of course, there are some things you wont want to cook in the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer. You may struggle with anything fiddly because of how deep the drawers are, because sticking your hands in a piping hot cooking drawer is definitely not advised. In theory you could heat saucy foods like beans and curry in it, but its probably worth using the microwave or cooktop for this instead. Again, you could cook cake in it – I did, and it was perfectly adequate, but the oven cake won out on results.
Really though, if youre reading this review its not because you want a new air fryer to cook your cakes in. The additional functions are excellent for cooking component parts of different meals at the same time and in their right conditions, and this cuts down on washing up considerably. Most importantly, the actual quality of the air frying results is next level. For healthier, quick convenience, its a must-have.

- Give the wings space: The chicken wings need space to cook evenly. Place the wings in the cooking basket so that they all can lay flat in the basket.
- Pat the wings dry: Before seasoning the meat, try to remove as much excess water from them as possible. You can do this by simply patting the wings dry with a paper towel.
- Bring the wings to room temperature: I recommend taking the wings out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before youre about to cook them. The wings cook more evenly when theyre not being air-fried from cold.

How Good Is The Ninja Foodi Dual Zone At Air Frying
I made a lot of air fried food in the AF300UK. To name a few dishes, this included cauliflower wings, spicy potato wedges, chicken tenders, and halloumi fries. Everything came out perfectly, and the air fry function performed just as expected. The food was amazingly crisp, cooked through, and not burnt. Air frying is a brilliant way to cut down on the oil you use to cook your food. You can use an oil spray to add a misting in with anything you make, but really, this isnt essential.
The AF300UK comes with a handy instruction manual that includes a chart of the cooking times and temperatures youll need to air fry all sorts of foods. This certainly came in useful, because its important to note that you wont be cooking things in your air fryer the way you would an oven. Ninja claims this can cook up to 75% faster than most fan ovens. This isn’t the case with every dish, but when you take into account that the air fryer needs absolutely no time to preheat,
