Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer: Roast Setting

Ninja Foodi 2-Basket Air Fryer w/DualZone Technology: First Look & First Cook!

I tried one of the included recipes to test out the roast setting with the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer AF300UK. This recipe was hunters chicken, which cooked through exactly as expected. One issue I encountered was that this air fryer isnt best suited to fiddly tasks. The deep trays make it hard to interact with the food as you cook it, so when the bacon I had wrapped the chicken in came away from the fillet, it was a faff to put it back in place.

I have used this setting for other tasks, and the most successful was the fajita recipe. Its easy to cook chicken in one compartment and veggies in the other to make life easier for picky kids who dont like vegetables, or vegetarians who wont eat chicken. Everything came out sizzling hot and perfectly cooked, and because I was able to sync the two drawers, they finished at the exact same time.

Shopping For An Air Fryer This Is The Best One To Buy

There are many air fryer options out there, but this one is my favorite.

My search for the perfect air fryer has come to an end.

Making a decision on what type of air fryer you should buy can be challenging with so many options to choose from. But I can help you decide thanks to my long and, at times, bumpy history with them. I love the idea of a kitchen appliance that circulates hot air to cook food nice and crisp in a matter of minutes without the oil needed for deep frying. But I had one problem. While most of the countertop appliances work the same, every air fryer I bought somehow managed to let me down, except for one: the Ninja Foodi 8-quart, 4-in-1 Dual Zone Air Fryer. And it’s worth every penny.

My fiancé and I started out with a $50 Dash Compact Air Fryer that was perfect for small spaces, but it didn’t hold enough food to have leftovers. I used a Bella air fryer next, and it didn’t have the settings we needed for our cooking preferences. We later upgraded to a Chefman air fryer that’s no longer available. Despite cleaning it the right way, the grill plate clips came off and the finish started to peel. We knew it was time for an upgrade that would last.

Update: While this story describes the author’s experience with the $139 8-quart, 4-in-1 Ninja Foodi, we’re linking the newer, $130 8-quart, 6-in-1 model. It’s a similar but updated model that is widely discounted this holiday season.

Our Verdict: Is The Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer Af300uk Worth It

Yes. Its pricey, but you definitely get value for the extra few quid. There arent many other air fryers with double compartments that can sync or match the cooking times. Impress your guests not only with fish and chips, but homemade banana chips with a solid range of functions.

If you could see your food while it cooked, and didnt need to turn it for an even coat, this air fryer would be a 5-star wonder machine.

Features: Dual Baskets With Coordinated Cooking Options

Air fryers have gone from new and innovative to ubiquitous. But that doesnt mean theres nothing new to be found. This Ninja model solves the not-enough-space problem while also freeing cooks from having to choose whether the wings or the fries get air fried. The dual baskets, along with the ability to control the left and right side separately, means that either side can have its own time and temperature settings. Even better, though, are the Smart Finish and Match options.

With Smart Finish, the cook can set separate cooking times and temperatures for each basket, then let the machine handle starting the shorter cooking time so the two items finish at the same time. Of course, that doesnt help if the cook is guessing how long something will take, but its perfect when making family favorites, so the fish and chips are done at the same time.

The Match option simply repeats the settings from one side to the other. Its not an earthshaking innovation, but when a double batch of wings is in the fryer, its nice to be able to set the time and temp a single time, then start both at the same time. I noticed that the right side cooked just a little hotter than the left side. It wasnt a dealbreaker and the difference wasnt major, but it was enough to notice that foods on the right were slightly darker than those on the left.

Ninja Foodi 2 Basket Air Fryer Review: Cooking Performance

NINJA FOODI 6

On our tests, we were most impressed by the Ninjas performance on Brussels sprouts, chicken wings and breaded chicken.

It only really struggled to air fry French fries from scratch, which were adequate, but didnt compare to some other models in terms of browning, crisping or moistness. It scored well for hamburgers as well, although some smoke was produced.

Its not necessary to preheat the Ninja before air frying. In spite of this, we didn’t get long cooking times, so not having to preheat was a big convenience. You have the option of placing the same amount and type of food in each of the baskets and cooking them at the same time or varying the contents of each one and programming each for a different cooking temperature and time. The fryer can calculate when to start cooking so that both baskets are ready at the same time using its Smart Cook setting. Its also possible to cook in only one basket or cook the same food in two different baskets to different degrees of doneness.

Is The Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer Af300uk Convenient To Use

On the whole, this air fryer is convenient, but weve seen others that beat it for convenience. Where it excels is its ability to cook complete meals with its Match or Sync features. Match works wonders when you want to double your serving size, cooking similar foods at the same time in different trays. Sync is useful for cooking different foods using different functions at different times, like air-frying fish fingers whilst roasting some veg. A bonus is it doesnt need to preheat, compared to the Ninja AF100 or Ninja OP350K models.

The 2 trays and crisper plates are easy to remove and clean, either by hand or in a dishwasher. Theyre non-stick, too.

The fryer comes with non-slip feet, cool-touch handles and a cool exterior.

Its downfall, as with most Ninja fryers, is that it doesnt have any presets. This isnt the end of the world as you can learn cooking times from checking the recipe guide or by your own knowledge. However, air-fryer newbies may have to open the baskets from time to time to ensure that chicken leg isnt overcooked.

It would have been easier if the compartments were transparent alas, they arent. Plus youll have to remember to give your chips or wings a good shake halfway through cooking so they turn golden all over. These arent issues with the Tefal Actifry Genius XL 2 in 1, which has a stirring paddle and a viewing window.

How Big Is The Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer Af300uk

The Dual Zone is a little bulky and heavy but it sits happily on most worktops. At 31.5cm high, its one of the shortest weve reviewed, so youll have ample clearance between the top of it and your cabinets. Its depth isnt an issue but its about 2cm wider than the average air fryer at 38cm. And, at just over 8kg, its 3kg heavier than its main opponent the Tefal Actifry Genius XL 2 in 1. You dont have to be Popeye to lift one up but its worth keeping this in mind if youre going to be ferrying it from the cabinet to the counter a lot.

Design: Attractive Enough For Counter Storage

While this fryer isnt what Id call pretty, its got a few design elements that make it look more attractive, like the rounded edges, the metal trim, and the dark gray surfaces that look understated and classic.

The front handles are plenty large, so theyre easy to grab and hold, which is great since food may need a little shake or stir during cooking. Theyre also a good shape and size to make it easy to pour food out of the basket after cooking. The fryer isnt overly tall, so it should slide easily under cabinets to stay on the counter when not in use.

The controls are simple to use, although I did have a few moments where I wasn’t sure what to do. A Start/Pause button let me pause the cooking on either side of the fryer, but when food on one side was finished sooner than I expected, I wanted to stop the cooking rather than pause it. The solution was to use the Time function to let the fryer know that the cooking time was done. While that worked well, it wasnt obvious at a glance.

I had to consult the manual to familiarize myself with the Smart Finish and Match options, but it was easy enough to set the cooking time and temperature.

See The Ninja Double Air Fryer In Action

Heres how the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer works. As you can see, its much much bigger than the Ninja AF101 or Ninja AF161.

The Ninja Foodi Dual Basket Air Fryer or the Ninja DZ201 is currently the only air fryer with two cooking zones totaling eight quarts in capacity. Its a 6-in-1 kitchen appliance that can handle air frying, broiling, roasting, baking, dehydrating, and reheating leftover food. In addition, the Ninja Double Air Fryer also has convenient smart features.

Should You Buy The Ninja Foodi Dz401 6

The Ninja Foodi DZ401 6-in-1 XL 2-Basket Air Fryer is a very large air fryer. It’s perfectly suited to large households or those who find their solitary air fryer lacking. A dual drawer design does seriously change the cooking options in your home, because you can cook two elements of a meal at once, but note that with the cooking controls on the Ninja Foodi DZ401 I did find that there was a bit of a learning curve. Perhaps it’s just me, but I found it easy to confuse the Match and Smart Finish settings.

I also noted the lack of shake reminder or pre-heat settings with this air fryer, which is something that could impact the precision of your cooking times. However, it’s a speedy choice with a very high maximum temperature that can crisp up frozen food in under ten minutes. That’s really impressive. Plus, cleaning was a breeze.

Ninja Foodi 2 Basket Air Fryer Review: Ease Of Use And Cleaning

This is not a product for anyone who is not willing to read the owners manual multiple times. Although the multi functionality can be confusing at first, after a few uses, you get the hang of programming.

The buttons are responsive and well laid out on the panel. Each of the baskets has a rack on which food is placed. Its very easy to pull the baskets out of the machine and lift the racks from the baskets as well as reposition everything.

Its improbable that you would get burned by the Ninja as it operates, although on the lower right-hand side, we measured an external temperature of 137°F which is starting to get hot. If you have to use the controls or one of the handles to pull out the baskets, you can do so easily as they remain at room temperature. As it operates, the air fryer has a dBA reading of 65.5 which is one of the highest readings we got from an air fryer. This is roughly the noise level of conversation in your home.

Both the basket and its insert have a nonstick finish for easy hand cleaning, but they can also be safely washed via the dishwasher.

With this air fryer, you get an owners guide which clearly explains how to use it. However, as the machine is multifunctional and programming it is somewhat complicated, you will find yourself referring to it often, especially when its still new. A Quick Start Guide is also included which contains an overview of operation, lots of cooking charts, and some recipes.

Twice The Baskets, Half The Time! – Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer

The air fryer industry is massive at the moment with many households experimenting with ways to save time and cash in the kitchen

Air fryers are surging in popularity, as we all become increasingly health-conscious and try to cut down on our calories, as well as our energy bills. They’re well established now, and more and more innovations are appearing as manufacturers try to create the perfect multi-function kitchen tool.

The Reviews Club thought by comparing their different abilities, consumers will have a much better insight to which air fryer would suit them and their families’ needs. We have spent a few weeks putting four of the best air fryers on the market through their paces.

Gareth Butterfield puts a top-spec Salter Dual Cook Pro and a range-topping Ninja Foodi Max to the test, while Stacey Dutton tries out the Proscenic T22 Air Fryer with 13 Presets and Shake Reminder and Beth Shufflebotham gives the Innoteck 16L air fryer oven a whirl. The air fryers have all managed to give us very individual findings and different experiences to share.

While they might look quite similar, the Salter Dual and Ninja twin-drawer devices vary quite a bit in price and functionality and, it turns out, usability and the 16L Innoteck version could be the larger version you need in your home rather than the nifty 5L Proscenic one- great for tech lovers with an app functioning touchscreen. Here is what the three of us found.
