Air fryers have a single fan and heating element on top of the oven. Some toaster ovens may have an air fryer function but usually have heating elements on the top and the bottom.
We do have one which we tried for a while but ended up breaking down and buying a standard machine.
It works better. Some multi function machines work well, I dont think this combo is quite as good. I suggest buying JUST an air fryer machine vs. a crisplid too.

What Ive Been Cooking
We tried to cook a good mix of things to get an idea for how the oven works. I say we because my husband tends to help me in the kitchen . We tried air fried chicken breasts first, and it was a win! Typically when I bake chicken breasts in the oven they end up pretty dry, but with air fry they came out crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. We went on to cook the best bacon youll ever eat, its nice and crispy and less greasy, and crispy roasted potatoes!
I even tried a donut recipe that ended up pretty good! Air fry also makes for the best french fries youll get out of your oven, theyre crispy, not limp and soggy.

What Can The Foodi Do
The Foodi has Pressure, Air Fry, Sear/Sauté, Steam, Bake/Roast, Broil, and Dehydrate functions.
Ninja calls the Foodi a pressure cooker that crisps and hawks its TenderCrisp Technology, but this description sells it a bit short. The Foodi can function totally independently as an air fryer, a pressure cooker, and a slow cooker. You can also choose to pressure cook and then air fry to achieve a browned, crisped exteriorthats the TenderCrisp part.

I find that some of the recipes that come in the Ninja Foodi cookbook need adjustments for seasoning but the cooking times seem right on. The roast chicken recipe that came in the NInja Foodi did not call for seasoning the chicken at all before cooking and that gets a big no from me. I seasoned the chicken inside, outside and underneath the skin with my seasoned salt recipe. GET THE SEASONED SALT RECIPE HERE
The NInja Foodi is large and heavy . Still smaller than buying two separate appliances but needs to be considered if space is an issue. At the time of this post, it cost about $180 at Sams Club and Walmart.

Temperature Accuracy And Consistency Test
This is low-key one of the most important functions for any oven, especially if you plan to do some light baking in it. If an oven cant hold an accurate and consistent temperature, it makes following recipes far more difficult, and youll be forever adjusting and hawking your food to make sure it doesnt burn. I used thermocouples to read the internal temperature of the oven while it baked for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F. I was able to get an average temp reading for the duration of the bake, but I also watched the thermometer in real time to see how much fluctuation happened during the cook.
The KitchenAid won this test with an average reading of 350 F on the nose and with very little fluctuation. The Ninja , Cuisinart and Breville also did well, although the Breville started off very hot and then came back down. The two last-place finishers were the Crux, which ran hot and the Calpahlon, which ran cold . Both were also the most inconsistent throughout the bakes.
