Cleaning The Instant Pot Vortex

Cleaning is easy. You can simply wipe it down with a wet cloth and basic cleaning supplies. Covering the drip pan in foil will also make cleaning easier. Also nice for cleaning is that the door is removable, but it takes more than a bit of work to figure it out and it is anything but easy. Basically, you have to open the door part way and wiggle the door around from one side until it pops out. I find it annoying and difficult. On the good side, I dont necessarily see a big need to remove the door for cleaning. It is fairly easy enough to do with the door on. But, my frenchees did leave a lot of crumbs around the door, and if it were easier to remove I would have done so for cleaning.

How Does It Stack Up Amongst The Rest

The real difference among air fryers comes down to convenience. It has a 10-quart capacity, which rivals many air fryers on the market, which tend to be around 5-quart size. Many air fryers are built in an egg shape, the Instant Vortex Plus air fryer looks more like a traditional countertop oven with the capacity to cook for up to six people at a time when using both cooking trays and has enough room for a 4-pound chicken. Thats dinner for the whole family on the table without preheating your oven.

What Does The Instant Vortex Do

It also has four separate preset buttons to making cooking specific items in your air fryer simple. Those presets are:

While these presets are nice to have, I have not been able to find evidence that they offer different cooking functionality other than just being common predetermined time and temperature combinations.

Since there is only one heating element in this Instant Vortex, and the fan speed doesn’t change with the different presets, I don’t believe there to be a true difference between the air fry functionality and the bake functionality.

To be frank, the 2021 redesigned Instant Vortex 4 in 1 Air Fryer is more on cosmetic improvements.

First off, the new version has a 0.3-qt less volume than the previous one. Luckily, this minor change doesnt affect the air fryers what you can fit factor.

Cleanup Process: Only Takes A Few Minutes

The Vortex proved extremely simple to clean. No matter the cooking mode, we found most of the juices and greases collected nicely on the drip pan without making a major mess in the cooking chamber. Instant Brands suggests lining your drip pan and cooking sheets with tinfoil to make cleanup easier, but they were so simple to cleanjust a quick wipedown with a sponge or scrub brushthat we found it necessary.

If you dont have time to wash the accessories by hand, theyre also all dishwasher-safe, so you can pop them in without worry. Additionally, you can slide the door off of the Vortex , so you can wipe it down if anything really makes a mess.
