Air Fry Mode Cooking Test

Wings

First, there is no preheating required for either GE or LG, but the tabletop unit did require a preheat time.

Second, the GE display does not show a timer or countdown when you set a cook time, but the LG and the tabletop unit did give a countdown.

I followed the instructions in the manual for recommended cooking temperatures and adjusted the cook times based on how the food was cooking.

The GE and tabletop unit were both set to 400 F. The tabletop unit was the fastest, 15 minutes, GE was around 20 minutes, and the LG was set to 450 F and took around 25 minutes.

I could have left the wings in longer in both the GE and LG ovens to obtain more of a crisp factor, but they were fully cooked when I removed them from the oven.

GE Air Fry Mode at 400 F: 20 minutes

LG Air Fry Mode at 450 F: 25 minutes

Tabletop Air Fryer at 400 F: 15 minutes

Brussels Sprouts

I cooked the Brussels sprouts for the same amount of time and at the same temperature in both the LG and GE. I tossed them in olive oil, salt, and pepper.

As you can see by the coloring, the tabletop sprouts cooked the fastest and had the most color. The sprouts cooked in the GE obtained slightly more color than those cooked in the LG for the same amount of time and temperature.

Tips For Getting The Best Results With Air Fry Mode In Your Ge Profile Oven

Air frying is the big buzz for cooking enthusiasts. When you air fry, you use less oil and end up with a healthier, crispy, crunchy dish. And now, you can do this in select models of GE Profile ranges and ovens. Using our in-oven air fry mode may work slightly different than regular baking or even using a countertop air fryer. To help you create your crunchiest, tastiest air fried foods, weve compiled a list of tips to help you get the best results. So, read these pointers, grab your favorite recipe, and start air frying.

COOKING WITH NO PREHEAT AIR FRY

• With air fry mode, you wont need to preheat. Just put your food directly in a cold oven and start cooking. If you’re air frying multiple batches, keep a close eye on those cooked after the first batch. They may cook more quickly and can burn.
• If youre using a recipe meant for a countertop air fryer, you may need to cook your food a little longer or at a slightly higher temperature.
• To cook packaged foods using the air fry mode, use traditional oven cooking instructions for the temperature and cook time. But remember, don’t preheat!
• We recommend using a rack position that places your food in about the center of the oven. For thicker foods, or if you notice foods cooking too quickly, try a lower rack position.
• While cooking, if you notice your food is browning too quickly, move it to a lower rack position and/or lower the temperature slightly.

While Air Fry modes are touted as the next big feature, the better question is: Does it work?

Air frying has become one of the biggest cooking trends lately following the Instant Pot craze.

Typically done in a tabletop device, a couple of appliance manufacturers have attempted to include air frying modes in a standard range.

It makes sense to utilize the existing technology in the range and market it with the trendy label – if it works.

In this article, I tested out two different ranges, GE and LG, with the Air Fryer mode and compared it to a tabletop air fryer .

GE Appliances , a Haier company, launched its first-ever FREE software upgrade that shares AIR FRY technology with more than 200,000 of its owners. More than 60 Smart oven models across CAFÉ, GE Profile and Haier brands already installed in consumers homes are eligible for this upgrade that will roll out across the month of April.

Rick Hasselbeck, chief commercial officer of GEA, took to the streets on April 1, 2021, sharing gifts with hungry consumers. To the surprise and confusion of GEA owners, the personally hand-delivered parcels were empty, but hot.

One anonymous fan said, I was delighted to receive a package from the companys CCO and thought I must have won something. Instead, I was left scratching my head.

Delivering dozens of packages to registered customers, Hasselbeck reportedly had a skip in his step as he served up the heated gifts.

I intended for this to be an easy task, and its really no heavy lifting, said Hasselbeck.

Known for long-winded speeches and sleepy Zoom meetings that drone on and on, Hasselbeck held a lengthy press briefing earlier in the day with extensive detail on the preparation of fried foods.

Because Hasselbeck could only cover so much ground in one day, some consumers received their free gifts as airdropped surprises. Drones took to the skies, sweeping the nation on the first of April to deliver #AirFryApril as over-the-air upgrades.

GE Appliances has added air frying and dehydrating capabilities to its Cafe and GE Profile lines of built-in wall ovens.

The company says its the only manufacturer to incorporate both dehydrating and hot air frying into an oven, a move that capitalizes on the current popularity of air fryers. GE reports that four million stand-alone air fryers were sold over a recent 12 month period.

An air fryer can reduce the amount of fat and calories in your food, allowing people and families to eat healthier, says Paul Bristow, executive director of product management of built-in cooking at GE Appliances. The benefit of an air fryer is that oil is replaced by a fan that blows hot air down onto the food, delivering a cleaner and healthier cooking experience with a crispy result that gives a great crunch.

Cafe wall oven

Both lines of ovens feature a 7-inch full-color LCD touch control and smart capabilities such as WiFi connectivity and scan-to-cook technology. The Cafe brand wall ovens include customizable finishes and hardware and are available in 27- and 30-inch single and double configurations.

GEs Profile 7000 Series of wall ovens offer Direct Air Convection for consistent results and zero-preheat settings for a variety of foods. They are available in 27- and 30-inch single and double configurations in stainless, black stainless, and black slate finishes.

Both ovens will be available in April 2017.
