Deep Frying Vs Air Frying
An air fryer and deep fryer are both going to give you delicious, crispy food every time. But lets face it: deep-frying food leaves you feeling heavy and not so great after. Thats why air fryers are such game-changers!
Deep fryers require lots and lots of oil. Guess how much were going to use in this recipe? Just one teaspoon. Just one! The inside of the air fryer needs a little bit of oil to prevent the meat from sticking, otherwise, theres no need for additional grease.
You can use an air fryer to make tons of delicious, healthy recipes , but I love to use it for my Asian Pork Meatballs, veggies, and fish.
Air Fryer Chicken Wings Flavor Variations
I love the savory, spicy flavor of buffalo wings, but you could just as easily toss the plain cooked wings in other types of sauce.
- BBQ: Brush 1/2 cup of store bought or homemade BBQ sauce over the wings.
- Garlic Butter: Melt 4 tablespoons of butter with 1 teaspoon minced garlic in the microwave for 30 seconds. Let cool slightly, then stir in 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons chopped parsley and salt and pepper to taste.
- Teriyaki: Bring 1/2 cup store bought teriyaki sauce to a simmer on the stove. Mix together 1 1/2 teaspoons of corn starch with 1 tablespoon cold water. Pour the corn starch mixture into the sauce and boil for 30 seconds or until sauce has thickened.
In my opinion, theres no better chicken wings than air fryer chicken wings!

When air fryers came on the market years ago, waistline-watchers everywhere rejoiced at the notion of being able to enjoy fried foods with less fat and fewer calories. Compared to deep-frying, air fryers are a more health-conscious method of cooking. Rather than sending your potatoes, chicken wings, doughnuts, and onion rings for a bath in a quart of hot oil, an air fryer usually employs one tablespoon or less of the stuff. Hot air containing fine oil droplets does all the heavy lifting as it’s circulated around the food, resulting in a deliciously crunchy exterior. If you indulge in fried foods frequently, switching to air-fried foods can promote weight loss by cutting back on how much unhealthy oil you’re consuming .
If you’ve invested in this countertop wonder, chances are you’re itching to try out some air-fried chicken wings. Bite-sized portions of chicken, with just the right ratio of crispy, fried skin to juicy meat what’s not to love? Can You Make These From Frozen
If you tend to decide on wings last minute and store your wings in the freezer, then a Ninja Foodi is perfect for making frozen chicken wings in an air fryer.
According to the Foodi manual, you can use the Pressure Cooker function on the Ninja Foodi and 1/2 cup of water to defrost the wings in 5 minutes. After the wings are thawed, you can follow the directions in the recipe.
I personally thaw my wings using the cold water method. This means that I place my frozen wings in a large bowl and cover them in cold water. I change the water every 15 minutes until the wings are thawed. By using this method, I dont accidentally cook my wings.
Can I Make Air Fryer Chicken Wings Without The Pressure Setting
My Ninja Foodi air fryer comes with a pressure cooker setting that I like to use to make sure my wings are fully cooked before starting the air fryer process so all I have to worry about is the crispy skin.

How To Serve Chicken Wings
The serving possibilities for chicken wings are endless. These wings go great with just about any dipping sauce. My favorites include:
- Ranch dressing. Add some course-ground black pepper to the ranch for additional flavor boost.
- Blue Cheese Dressing
- BBQ Sauce
- Honey Garlic Sauce
Wings naturally partner with fresh celery and carrot sticks. Also, since these are herb seasoned wings, side dishes of potato salad or coleslaw are excellent choices for making them a meal.
How Long Does It Take To Cook Chicken Wings In The Air Fryer
The total time is 40 minutes. With this recipe, the meat will be perfect.
The ideal time for cooking chicken wings in an air fryer is as follows:
- 200 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes in advance
- After 25 minutes, continue to cook at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.
Besides ingredients, temperature and time are the two most important things in cooking. It determines whether your dish is a masterpiece or a failure.
Cooking chicken wings for too long in an air fryer causes them to dry out or even burn. This harms your health as well as tortures your taste buds.
If the cooking time is not enough, the meat will not cook inside. The taste is definitely bad too.

Extra Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings
October 30, 2018 by victor
These air fryer chicken wings are so good that if you have an air fryer, whip it out and make these wings ASAP. If not, go buy one now! Seriously. I am a chicken wing lover and have tried dozens of amazing recipes. This one is way up there at the top of the list. The first thing that hits you is their extra crispy, extra flavorful deep golden brown skin. Its delicious! As you bite into the wing, the second thing that hits you is the explosion of juices. These wings are probably the juiciest wings Ive ever had. They are cooked so quickly that they just dont have the time to dry out.
These wings remind me of my Extra Crispy Baked Chicken Wings. I make them in a similar way I use baking powder to draw out moisture and dry out the skin, and I use high heat and air movement to get that browning and crisping up of the skin.
The one thing I did differently in this recipe is I salted the wings and applied the seasonings before frying. Based on my experiments, salt does make chicken skin a little less crispy, but it also significantly improves browning. I now salt my wings before cooking as I like the beautiful deep golden brown color it results in.
If you have never used an air fryer before, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. I will address them one by one, starting with what I consider the most important one.
