I made a lot of air fried food in the AF300UK. To name a few dishes, this included cauliflower wings, spicy potato wedges, chicken tenders, and halloumi fries. Everything came out perfectly, and the air fry function performed just as expected. The food was amazingly crisp, cooked through, and not burnt. Air frying is a brilliant way to cut down on the oil you use to cook your food. You can use an oil spray to add a misting in with anything you make, but really, this isnt essential.
The AF300UK comes with a handy instruction manual that includes a chart of the cooking times and temperatures youll need to air fry all sorts of foods. This certainly came in useful, because its important to note that you wont be cooking things in your air fryer the way you would an oven. Using this air fryer is slightly different to a standard air fryer with a pull-out basket. Instead, the crisper basket here drops into the appliance you access food by lifting the top lid. The set-up is no better or worse than other air fryers, but its a bit trickier to shake food mid-cooking, since youll have to lift out the hot crisper basket in order to do so.
To test out the air fry function, we cooked up a batch of frozen thick-cut fries. We set the temperature to 360oF / 180oC, allowing the cooker to preheat with the crisper basket inside. This took just three minutes. Once hot, the Ninja Foodi Health Grill & Air Fryer prompted us to add the food and automatically started the countdown timer on closing the lid. Theres no reminder to shake or turn food during air frying, but we checked it half way through, lifting out the basket with oven gloves to give the fries a shake. After 20 minutes, the resulting fries were crisp, golden and perfectly cooked. Not only did they taste great, but they cooked faster than the 28 minutes they would have taken in an oven.
Cleaning the cooking pot and basket is easy thanks to the non-stick coating, or you can pop it in the dishwasher. The grill plate is a little more fiddly to wash by hand, but its made easier by using the brush thats supplied by Ninja.

Despite being able to pile that many fries into the air fry basket, the basket couldnt fit at the recommended air fry rack position in the oven.
Toasting: The toast is very evenly toasted, however, there is no setting for an extremely light toasting. Nine slices of packaged bread can fit inside the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven without squishing them. Furthermore, it can toast them fairly evenly. Toasting two slices with it give exceptionally even results, browning exceptionally fast.
The light and medium settings, however, toast to a golden-brown shade, so it might disappoint those who prefer only lightly browned toast. Using its bagel toasting settings, it toasts bagel halves evenly.
Baking: With this Ninja, you cannot bake an entire loaf or Bundts, but you could bake a cake or muffins in a shallow pan, or bake small things like cookies directly on the sheet pan. It bakes the biscuits just as well as if they are baked in a full oven.

The first recipe Genene made was the Baked Macaroni & Cheese recipe from the Foodi cookbook. Genene said it seemed like a lot of liquid prior to the Air Crisp time of 7 minutes. But its the perfect amount of liquid after air frying the noodles absorb the liquid as the topping browns.
An interesting twist on this mac and cheese recipe is you start it with lemon juice and baking soda, cook it for 0 minutes and let the noodles finish cooking during a 10 minute natural release. The noodles were softer than Genene likes, so the next time she would reduce the natural release time to 8 minutes. Both she and her husband enjoyed the mac and cheese recipe.
Genene also baked biscuits, Louisiana Battered Flounder, and Frozen Curly Fries using the crisping lid all crisped up beautifully. She tested the pressure cooker by making hard boiled eggs, and the timing for hard boiled eggs was exactly the same as in her Instant Pot.
