Ingredient Notes And Substitutions
- Yellow gold potatoes– I prefer yellow gold potatoes or russet potatoes for this recipe. They tend to hold up best in the air fryer in my opinion. You can sub for another potato, just start watching towards the end of cooking time and make sure they aren’t shriveling up.
- Olive oil– you want to make sure you are using a high smoke point oil in the air fryer. If you don’t want to use light tasting olive oil I recommend subbing avocado oil.
- Dried spices and herbs– be sure to stick with the dried spices and herbs for this recipe.

Are Air Fryer Diced Potatoes Gluten Free
Yes! One of the hardest parts of living gluten free has been the realization that most restaurant potatoes are not safeespecially when a deep fryer is involved.
Some restaurants have dedicated gluten free fryers, but many do not. Cooking my favorite potato recipes at home is the only way to guarantee zero cross-contamination.
Double check the labels on your processed ingredients as always, to be safe, but everything on the ingredient list for this Air Fryer diced potatoes recipe should be gluten-free.
Tips For Crispy Roasted Potatoes
The air fryer recipe makes these foolproof. But here are some tips to help them be awesome!
- Wash: Since youll want to leave the skins on , be sure to wash them thoroughly.
- Oil: If you desire you can use an oil spray to coat your potatoes. You need the oil to help the seasonings stick to the potatoes.
- Preheat: Be sure to allow your air fryer to preheat for maximum crispiness in your roasted potatoes.
- Flip: Use a spatula or a spoon to turn your potatoes. Shaking the basket can cause your roasted potatoes to break apart.
- Know Your Air Fryer: Be sure to read your air fryers manual and know what temperatures and timings will work best with your make and model.
- Even Cooking: To make sure your potatoes roast evenly cut them into same sized pieces.

To Soak Or Not To Soak
Soaking potatoes before roasting or air frying is a great idea in theory. This removes some of the starch from potatoes and yields the most incredible texture.
If you have time, I highly recommend soaking your potatoes in water for up to 1 hour.
I find when Im throwing together an air fryer dinner, I do not always have an hour to soak the potatoes. These are still delicious without the pre-soak.
In conclusion, soak the potatoes if you have time. Then pat dry and begin recipe. If you do not have time, check to make sure they are fork tender and soft on the inside.
