Storing Air Fryer Bacon
- Refrigerator: Store leftover air fryer bacon in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It should keep for up to 5 days. Reheat the bacon by popping it back in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.
- Freezer: Not recommended. You can freeze air fryer bacon, but its so quick to make in the air fryer that you might as well cook bacon raw from scratch. If you freeze and reheat it, it will likely overcook and turn out dry.
How To Cook Air Fryer Bacon Without Smoking Up The Whole House
Yes, you can get crispy bacon without setting off the smoke alarm.
Is there any flavor more perfect than bacon? The combo of rich fat, smoky flavor, and salt is just about as purely delicious as it gets. No wonder we love it wrapped around almost anything, baked into bread, or even in ice cream.
Bacon is traditionally made on the stove of course, though it tends to splatter, and cleanup can be a big pain. If you’re making it for a crowd, it’s easiest to just cook it in the oven. But if you’re looking to just make a small amount of bacon, and don’t want to deal with splatter, then your top-rated air fryer is the way to go.
There’s a caveat, though. Many recipes out there encourage you to cook bacon the way you’d cook most anything else in an air fryer: hot and fast, to get it crispy. With bacon, that’s a bad idea. Because bacon is so fatty, cooking it at high temps in your air fryer will typically cause all the fat to drip off, shrinking the strips down to just the lean parts, and also potentially causing all that dripping hot fat to fill your kitchen with smoke.

Whats The Best Method To Cook Bacon In An Air Fryer
I wont go into cooking times and such like, as that is all dependent on how crispy you like your bacon, as well as the thickness of your bacon. For most typical bacon, 400 degrees Fahrenheit for around five minutes should be a good starting point. If you want crispy bacon, add another minute to the cook time.
Make sure to have a single layer of bacon slices inside your air fryer basket too, as this will help the hot air circulate around it and give you more even cooking. Also try not to use a solid baking sheet or solid parchment paper. Again, to aid air flow and even cooking go for perforated parchment paper and baking sheets with holes
Be aware that you should cook your bacon in two bursts. Cut your timings in half, and in the middle make sure to flip your bacon. Also take a quick look to see if any excess oil is floating around in the bottom of your air fryer compartment. If there is any, please tip it out before continuing. Need I talk about white smoke again? ha ha!
If you have any leftover bacon, I would recommend cooking it a few minutes longer until it turns to fully crispy bacon. This can then be smashed up to use as bacon bits. Yum!
What Is The Difference Between Cured And Uncured Bacon
The difference is that the solution used in uncured bacon does not contain artificial nitrates. Instead, the nitrates come from natural sources, such as celery juice or sea salt.
Other Methods used to cure bacon are dry curing and smoking. Dry cured bacob has a dry mixture of seasoning and other ingredients applies to the surface, instead of liquid solution being injected into the meat. It takes weeks and even months for this method to completely cure the meat, whereas conventional curing takes mere minutes.

Achieving The Perfect Bacon
There are a few things that you will need to consider to achieve the perfect bacon. Below are a few ideas on how you can guarantee delicious bacon.
You may need to adjust the cooking time depending on your bacon preference. For example, for super crispy bacon, you will need to increase the cooking time. You may also need to increase the cooking time if you have thick-cut bacon.
The size of your air fryer may impact the cooking time. I have a large air fryer, so it takes a little longer to cook food. If you have a small air fryer, consider reducing the cooking time by a few minutes.
Adding water to the bottom of the air fryer will help reduce the chance of the excess bacon fat from smoking. I personally have not had the problem, but it may happen with your air fryer.
Below is the recipe that will take you through all the steps to cooking bacon in the air fryer. If you have some feedback, please leave us a comment at the bottom of this page.
Tips For Making The Best Air Fryer Bacon

Below, find a couple of tips and tricks to help you make the best air fried bacon.

- Dont overcrowd the air fryer basket. Resist overcrowding the air fryer basket and place the bacon strips in a single layer. This will ensure each piece gets super crispy!
- Flip the bacon halfway through. Flipping the bacon halfway through helps both sides get enough love from the hot, circulating air of the air fryer.

Help How Can I Prevent It From Splattering And Smoking In The Air Fryer
One of the most annoying thing about cooking bacon is the smoke and oil splatters from the high heat.
No matter if you cook it on a pan, in the oven or air fryer, oil will splatter.
Unless you do this trick!
Add a thin layer of water on the drip tray/pan, enough to cover the surface.
The oil drips on the water as your air fry and it will not smoke or splatter anymore.
Travelling Foodie Tip: Cover the drip tray/pan with aluminum foil before adding water on top for easy clean up after!
This has been the best way Ive found to avoid smoke and splatters in the air fryer while cooking bacon.
Some other tricks I heard were:
- Put a slice of bread on the tray/pan I find this a waste of food since you are most likely throwing away the bread after unless you think its good enough to eat.
- Put a wet paper towel on the tray/pan I personally feel this can be a potential fire hazard. Also, the oil and water would still go through the paper towel making the drip tray/pan wet and oily after.
What Can I Air Fry Besides Bacon
Air fryers can be used for air cooking or air baking many types of foods, including desserts, veggies, chicken wings, french fries, egg rolls, pizza pockets, and more. Using an air fryer is a healthier way to cook foods since it doesnt require any oils or fats, which makes your food taste amazing without any oil! Air fryers also come with several different accessories depending on what youre trying to use the air cooker for, like air frying tools like tongs and spatulas, while others have splatter guards to prevent any oil spills when air frying bacon or other meats.
