Also, it was a much more reasonable price point than the other highly rated competitors. I didnt want to spend more than $200 because that just seemed silly, and Im really happy with my purchase!
Why this model vs. the newer digital Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven
I went with this model because I didnt think it was worth paying $80 more dollars just for a digital display. Also, a lot of the reviews said that the digital settings were a lot more cumbersome and confusing, and because Im 90 years old I read the consumer reports comparison, and the TOA 60 model won out over the 65, so, therefore, thats the one I went with. I like how easy it is to just turn the knobs and not have to mess with digital settings. It also makes a really cute little nostalgic ding when the timer is up which I think is charming.
Agatha is also fantastic at reheating pastries and donuts so they taste fresh out of the oven!

Oven Stops Working Suddenly

Can An Air Fryer Toaster Oven Replace The Microwave
The short answer: no, they do completely different things!
The longer answer: Maybe, it depends on what you like to eat and whether you actually like cooking.
It can definitely replace the microwave for a lot of things, mainly reheating anything that was once crispy but I still use my microwave for heating up things like leftover soup, pasta, etc. But honestly, I dont use my microwave that much, so if I had to choose, I would probably choose the air fryer/toaster oven.
However, I am someone who LIKES cooking and cooks A LOT. If I ate a lot of canned things, oatmeal, frozen meals, etc, those are not things you can make in an air fryer, so honestly, it just depends on what kind of food you eat and how often you are cooking for yourself.
If youre a foodie who loves to cook, you could probably get away with replacing your microwave with this. But if you are all about convenience, not a chance.

Air Frying:
Fact: Air frying is really just a fancy way of saying Convection. I do not have a convection setting on my regular oven and I didnt have one on my toaster oven, thus, why I made the upgrade. If you have a convection setting on one of your existing ovens, you probably dont need an air fryer!
Toasting:
This also has a toasting function, but to be honest I just use the air fryer setting for toast now because its so quick!
Baking, Broiling:
The baking and broiling function I used to use a lot on my old toaster for baking chicken breasts, for example, broiling for melting cheese, making crostini, etc, but to be honest, I pretty much just use the air fryer function now in lieu of those two settings, again, because its so much faster than traditional baking/broiling methods. However, this model does have those if you want to use them!
Reheating:
I use the air fryer to reheat anything that was once crispyits absolutely AMAZING for warming up takeout. Youll never cry over soggy fries or wings again! However, I would not use it for reheating anything else that was not once crispy, such as soup, pasta, etc.
Warming:
I LOVE the warming feature even when Im not air frying. This comes in really handy if youre cooking things in batches on the stove, or if, say, I make two grilled cheeses and Neal is finishing up something and isnt ready to eat his yet.

I would never have considered buying the Cuisinart TOA-65 Air Fryer Toaster Oven, but Ive changed my mind after testing it. I have a small son and quickly cooking a quesadilla for his dinner or baking a couple of cookies was made infinitely easier by this appliance. Ive found lots of reasons not to turn on the oven or stovetop. Plus, I can air fry and dehydrate!
If youre into kitchen gadgets but want to streamline and downsize, then the TOA-65 is perfect for you. If you wish you had a second oven or dont have one at all then its also your best bet. Its smart, compact and a workhorse. It will earn its place on the countertop.

Controls & Ease Of Use 8/10
One of the main issues with the Cuisinart TOA-60 was the analog dials wouldnt give you precise time and temperature measurements it was more of an approximation which is not ideal. But this digital appliance lets you program the toaster oven to the exact second or degree.
There can be some confusion around the functions of some of the buttons if you dont read the instruction manual properly, as there are a couple of buttons that only have icons and no text telling you what their purpose is. The controls overall functionality is a bit too complicated and takes a while to get used to it.
There are several options to choose from on the LCD before you begin cooking, they are Toast, Bagel, Bake, Broil, Pizza, Roast, Dehydrate, Proof, Low, and Warm. You use the dial located next to the display to scroll through the options and click the dial in to select your desired function. Depending on your choice there might be additional options such as shades if youre cooking toast, or different foods if you select Air Fry.
The dial can also be used to manually select the temperature and cooking times if youd prefer to use your own settings, as well as fan speed and defrost.
If you open the oven door during a cooking cycle, the appliance will turn off the heat and pause the time.

Hot Pockets Cooking Test
I cooked 2 Hot Pockets containing cheese and pepperoni. They took longer to cook as theyre frozen foods that have to be thawed and cooked internally. This takes more time than thin foods. The results were excellent.
Similarly, I cooked a small pack of pizza Hot Pockets which are bread-wrapped cheese and meat foods that make a great snack or easy meal.
As theyre frozen and contain food on the inside, I knew theyd take longer to cook. Again, using the convection bake feature set to about 425° and pre-heated I carefully cooked them while checking the crust.
They did take longer to cook than the pizza but were still pretty quick. After about only 6 minutes they were ready.
Checking the internal temperature and crust, I found the outer crust to be very well toasted and deliciously crunchy! A microwave simply cant do justice to this kind of food.

How To Determine If An Air Fryer Is Right For You:
If you already have a full-size oven or toaster oven with a convection setting, OR a convection toaster oven, you likely dont need an air fryer! Neither my big oven nor my toaster oven had a convection setting though, thus, I deemed this was a worthy purchase for me. Another big pro to this vs. using the convection setting on your oven is that it doesnt need to preheat and cooks food much faster.
A con though, is that obviously, your oven can cook way more food at once. I think this is great for two people but wouldnt cook enough food in one sitting for say, a family of four to all eat the same meal.
Again, like Ive said above, it really comes down to what kind of cook you are, and what kind of food you like to cook!

The controls panel on the Cuisinart TOA-60 consists of a set of four analog dials. The lack of a digital panel might be off-putting to some, but we found the simplicity of the set-up to be easy to use, though not without its drawbacks.
As the dials are clearly marked, there can be no confusion about what they do, but they arent an exact science. For instance, the timer dial is laid out in increments of 10-minute segments, so if you need to cook something for 12 minutes, youll have to use your judgment.
There are seven functions on the TOA-60 which offer a solid amount of versatility. They are Warm, Broil, Toast, Bake, Air Fry, Convection Broil, and Convection Bake.

Heres my honest opinion: Ive tested a lot of products in my time, but few have improved my quality of life the way the Cuisinart TOA-60 has.
While I do have a few complaints , and I prefer a nice digital display, in testing the TOA-60 I found it to be a great performer, very easy to use, and I got excellent results.
The meals I prepared were just as good as take-out food and were much less expensive, too! I loved it so much Ive awarded it my Editors Choice award for being a solid value.
Based on my test results and the great-tasting food it made the Cuisinart TOA-60 is a fantastic choice for affordable, healthy, and delicious food.

The Cuisinart TOA-60 is a popular toaster oven that cooks healthy and FANTASTIC-tasting air fried, baked, toasted, and broiled food. Despite cooking food twice as fast and with 1/2 the power of traditional ovens, the results of my tests were nothing short of wonderful.

Issue Of Sparking Inside The Oven
Sparking may be seen inside the cooking chamber when you turn the oven on or try to use it.
This happens due to the breaking down of the insulation. The insulation breaks down over the course of time from continuous usage of the oven.
