Air Fried Chicken Wings Test
Chicken wings are almost universally loved and a very popular item to air fry. The goal for an air-fried wing is a crispy outside and skin with a juicy inside. To test each ovens air fry ability, I cooked three frozen wings on air fry mode at 450 degrees F for 30 minutes, turning them every 10 minutes. I let each oven come to full preheat before putting the wings in and then photographed them immediately after pulling them out. I tasted them too, of course, when they became cool enough to eat.
Success here depends on high heat and good fan circulation of that hot air, which, in turn, means faster cooking. The faster an air fryer cooks and the more effective the super convection is, the faster the outside skin will crisp, making it less likely the chicken will be dry inside.
The Ninja Foodi oven won the great wing war by a feather, with the crispiest wings after 30 minutes. They were also perfectly juicy inside and had no real visible burning. The Cuisinart also nailed the wing test, but I actually had to pull them after about 25 minutes because they were fully done. They even had some burnt skin but not enough to bother me. The Breville and Crux also did well with good browning and crispy skin, while the KitchenAid finished sixth and the Calphalon seventh with not enough browning or crispiness for my taste.

Anyone who’s read my reviews of the best stand mixers will know that I’m an avid baker, so I was keen to try the Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 Flip Mini Oven out to bake.
The Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 Flip Mini Oven doesn’t come with a muffin tray, but you can buy a 12-cup muffin pan on the Ninja site if you love to cook cupcakes.
I used the baking sheet, which is 13×13 inches, to place my cupcake cases in the oven. I was concerned that they would touch the top of the oven when they rose, but I had no issues. I would definitely refrain from cooking bread or a full-sized cake in the Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 Flip Mini Oven, but that’s down to the smaller internal capacity as opposed to any issues in its ability to cook.
Is The Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven Easy To Use And Clean
The Ninja has an easy-to-use digital interface, although it does smudge.
The digital control panel on the Ninja oven is well laid out and easy to read. It interface centers around a knob that you turn to select the time and temperature for each function, and its fairly intuitive to program.
We love the fact that the oven preheats automatically and the preheat time is just one minute, so it doesnt add appreciably to the cooking time. During cooking, the product is quieter than most air fryers, and you can turn on an interior light to check on your foods progress.
The sheet pan and the air fry basket can be cleaned in the dishwasher. In the standing position, the back opens, giving you access to the inside for cleaning.
The Ninja Foodi oven comes with a very thorough and easy-to-understand owners guide, as well as a booklet that contains recipes and cooking charts for air frying and dehydrating and a leaflet with instructions on how to build a sheet pan meal. It would be helpful if there were also charts to use as guidelines for baking, air roasting, and air-broiling.

Kitchenaid Digital Countertop Oven With Air Fry
While the KitchenAid didnât run away with many of the test categories, it didnât struggle mightily in any of them either. It sports a serviceable air fry function â though certainly not the best â excellent temperature consistency and a very sleek and intuitive control panel . It makes the list because I found it to be a reliable oven thatâs also an ideal size for most kitchens. Itâs a bit of a hybrid between the Ninja and the Breville in that itâs compact â just 17 inches across versus the Breville at more than 21 â but also has a more traditional cooking capacity so you could get some taller items in there, whereas the Ninja is limited in that department. It also looks great which always counts for something, and itâs a smidge cheaper than the Ninja at $190.
