Crispy fries without all the oil? Thats the golden promise of air fryers, and it might explain why, in the U.S., the market for these appliances continues to grow year over year. In fact, the air fryer market is predicted to be worth more than $2.2 billion by 2028, according to .
Despite their name, air fryers dont fry food at all. Theyre actually small convection ovens. A fan circulates hot air to quickly cook food in the basket from the outside in. At first glance, these countertop cookers seem limited to finger foods like fries, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, or pizza bites. But you can use an air fryer to cook almost anything youd throw into the toaster oven or on the stove an air fryer just adds a kick of crispiness to anything it cooks .
So are air fryers worth the counter space? In the Consumer Reports lab, our testers ran through more than 50 models to reach our latest air fryer ratings. They found that air fryers were quite capable of turning out nicely cooked food. Even when we held cooking times and temperatures constant, the results were very similar, with no discernible differences in taste, said Larry Ciufo, the engineer who oversees air fryer testing.

Supermarket shoppers are rushing to get their hands on the ever popular air fryers for this upcoming Black Friday sale. The item is soaring in popularity amid the rising cost of energy bills.
ASDA has slashed the price of the air fryers to one of the cheapest on the market. ASDA shoppers have discovered the sell-out Ninja air fryers for less than £100 in supermarkets. At £99 each, they’re incredibly cheap, and a brilliant bargain, however the cheapest air fryer online at Costco is £59.98 – the Total Chef 3.6L Air Fryer.
One shopper said she found a 3.5ltr Ninja Air Fryer for £89 in her local ASDA. By comparison, a 3.8L Ninja air fryer costs £129.99 currently on the Currys website.
The same version costs £130 at Argos. Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, Sadie Gleave said: “Asda Black Friday have ninja air fryers 3.5ltr £99”
Enik Kelemen wrote: “Oh god … some are selling them on market place for £300 £340.” Jenny Britton said: “Staff said there’s only a couple in each store if that.”
Sharon Tales told the group: “I bought one today at my local Asda.” Laura Robinson explained: “I got the Ninja Foodi health grill + air fryer yday for £142 in Asda. Can’t wait to try it later.”
