Can I Freeze French Toast Sticks

Yes, you can.

Keeping a batch of these French toast sticks in the freezer is a very convenient way to get breakfast on the table quickly and they are ready to reheat at any time.

Youll want to freeze the already cooked French toast sticks in a single layer on a baking sheet. When they are firm to the touch, place them into a Ziploc freezer bag and store them up to two months in the freezer.

Reheat them in the sir fryer, toaster oven or regular oven. They can be reheated in the microwave, however, they will not be crispy.

What Kind Of Bread Is Best For Air Fryer Cinnamon French Toast Sticks

I like to use thick cut Texas toast for a nice hearty bite of air fryer cinnamon french toast. Its readily available in the fresh bread section of the grocery store and its inexpensive.

Artisanal thick cut, soft, bakery bread is also a good option.

You can also use brioche bread. Its a nice option because its soft, slightly sweet, and soaks up the egg mixture well.

For another flavor twist, trycinnamon raisin bread. It will play up the wonderful cinnamon flavor vibe.

I do not recommend using bread slices from a regular loaf of bread either white or wheat. Its too thin and skimpy in my opinion to give you the mouthfeel of French toast sticks.

Plus it can easily become over soaked and a bit soggy from the egg mixture.

I dont know how gluten-free bread will hold up but if you try it, let me know.

What Can You Not Put In An Air Fryer

Air

I really suggest that you do not put your battered foods into the air fryer because they will be very wet batter, as the cornmeal batter on a corndog. It will not cook successfully in an air fryer, as the coating is particularly heavy and wet will drip through the perforated basket before it has time to crisp. Meanwhile, the hot oil bath in a traditional deep fryer is key to setting up battered food, so use the deep frying method instead of the air fryer when it comes to battered food.

What Type Of Air Fryer Should I Use

Air Fryers are really kind of ugly and this one kind of reminds me of Darth Vaders head/mask thing, but oh my gosh, its the best appliance ever. Yes they are worth it! There are lots of air fryers out there, but I do particularly love my air fryer. In fact, here are the best-rated large capacity air fryers available and mine is always among them.

If you can grab this air fryer for under $150, you are getting a great deal. In fact, you can read the 5-star reviews on this air fryer here.

Tips For Air Frying French Toast

  • Dont over soak the bread. Brioche has a soft texture and will soak up the custard mixture quickly. If you over soak it, it can start to fall apart.
  • Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper. If your bread is a little soggy, you can line the basket with a piece of parchment to stop the liquid from making a mess in the bottom. The air fryer pictured here did not need parchment paper.
  • Preheat your air fryer. If you dont preheat your air fryer, the French toast sticks wont cook through evenly and the middles can still be raw. If you dont have a preheat function, let the air fryer run at 375F for 5 minutes before placing in the bread.
  • Use a different bread. We love the richness and sweetness of brioche, but you can make this recipe with other sliced breads. If using a dense bread like sourdough you will need to soak it for a little longer in the egg mix.

Can You Cook Frozen Food In An Air Fryer

Air Fryer Frozen French Toast Sticks! So crispy and buttery and smell so good! ðð

The hot air which circulates in your air fryer is so perfect for roasting. You 100% can cook your frozen food like french fries, chicken fingers, frozen french toast sticks, etc. in an air fryer. The air fryer will make them extra crispy without going for deep frying, and make the job done in less time.

Also, The air fryer is actually good when it comes to cooking beef, I know that the most common way to cook beef like short ribs is by grill them or cook them in the oven. However, the air fryer does a great job of cooking all types of meat, like beef, pork, chicken, and seafood also, quicker and easier than the baking, or deep-frying, like:

some of the recipes above are using frozen food like the sausage patties, so in this case, the air fryer is doing a reheating process, on the other hand, some of the others are fresh food that the air fryer will cook, and let me tell you that it does a perfect job of cooking your meat to rare, medium-rare or whatever you like, just all you need to know is the timing and the temperature needed.

So what are you waiting for stop wasting your time and start using your air fryer for easier, faster, delicious, healthy cooking.

    Easy French Toast Sticks Recipe

These Air Fryer French Toast sticks are a twist on my favorite Challah French Toast recipe. Theyre made with the same thick, rich homemade challah bread but instead of being cooked on the stovetop, theyre cut into thin wedges and popped in the air fryer.

The air fryer gets the outside perfectly golden brown, and even a bit more crisp than pan-frying does, but that sweet, rich French toast flavor remains. Plus you dont have to worry about flipping the bread. Just pop it in the air fryer and youre good to go.

What Kind Of Air Fryer Should I Use

It doesnt matter whether its the basket or oven model, Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex, or Cosori.

Whatever the model or brand of air fryer you own, all that counts is to cook the French toast sticks at the right temperature and duration.

The thing is because these models run differently from each other, theres no one golden temperature and length of cooking when it comes to air frying.

For instance, my air fryer cooks French toast sticks beautifully at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 9 minutes total.

Air fryers that run hotter will require a much shorter duration, while others will need up to 12 minutes.

The key is to monitor the food closely, especially if its your first time.

You can also do a test run with 1 to 2 pieces of toast to avoid potentially ruining the whole batch.

    • Thick sliced bread: Use your favorite type of bread for french toast. I used a thick-cut brioche-style bread or challah when I made these. If you dont have thick-sliced bread available, regular sliced bread will work too. If you are making them into french toast sticks, I recommend cutting each piece into three sections as opposed to four sections for extra stability if you are using a thinner sliced bread.
